    Once vinegar-y, always vinegar-y?

I started a second batch of cider on top of the yeast cake from the first. The first turned out well, this one I don't know yet. . . I started the second batch on the 5th of February. It took off like crazy and I ended up having to put a blow off tube on it through a few days of rhino...

    My first label, brewery name.

Well, I took the middle name of my 2yo daughter, Wilde, and the first name of my 6 week old daughter, Juniper, and came up with Wilde Juniper Brewing. Here's the first label for a hard cider, nice and simple though I may add a small white space for a batch number.

A couple weeks into a 3 gallon batch of Ed Worts Apfelwine

Well, I started my first batch of Apfelwein on January 3rd and its been bubbling right along since then. Just starting to slow down. I had to put a heating pad on low round the back of my carboy because we are trying to keep our heating bill down. :) Any way I have a small half gallon glass...

    Airlock cloudy and cider-y.

Well, I woke up this morning and found that my airlock on the big carboy is all cloudy and yellowy with cider and some residue. My question is, should I clean it out today and refill it with clean vodka? Or should I leave it alone? It's not solid cider, just the mass of foam on top is making...

So I have this Digital Hydrometer

I am a coffee roaster and all around coffee nerd, so I, obviously, have access to a digital hydrometer we use to check the density of suspended particulate in our different brewed, pressed, extracted coffee. My question is, can I use this in some fashion to check the SG of my first cider...

    Newbie First Cider Attempt

Well, I did it. Finally. After planning on making my own cider in October, here I am am 14 hours in to my first batch. I was given some Ryan's Organic Apple Cider, three gallons of it from the warehouse where I work that was a week past its use-by date. Two of the gallons looked normal...
