    LME vs. DME

+1. Definitely use a whisk with DME. I just discovered this technique last week and it's incredible how well it works.

    Poor Yeast Performance?

Alright sounds like it's time to take a hydrometer reading! Does any one know of an online OG calculator/guesstimator? Thanks for all the help

    Poor Yeast Performance?

I'm not too familiar with the concept of attentuation when is comes to yeast. Could you either give me a breif run-down or point to a website or thread that discusses the concept? Thanks!

    Poor Yeast Performance?

I sure didn't. I figured that could've been the problem. So is it possible to make a starter now and then pitch that in the beer? Also are those "smack packs" from Wyeast considered starters?

    Poor Yeast Performance?

I've got a question I'm looking for some advice on: I was brewing an Imperial Stout, and pitched the White Labs Liquid Irish Ale Yeast after letting them warm to room temperature for about 3 hours. I aerated the wort pretty well too. I forgot to take the OG unfortunately so I'm not sure...

    Ranco ETC Thermostat

I've got a Ranco ETC Thermostat (one reccomended by a lot of the HBSs I've seen) hooked up to my Chest Freezer kegerator. I have it set to 45 degrees, but it seems to fluctuate withing 6 degrees of the set temperature. I have the offset set to 1 degree, and I have the temperature sensor in a...

    Any Baltimoreans using Tap Water?

+1 I'm definitely on board with that. As far as cheap beers I'd drink Natty Boh over all the other commercialized suds out there.

    Force Carbing vs. Priming

If you Prime your beers, does enough pressure build to dispense the entire volume of the keg, or do you still end up having to hook the kegs up to CO2 when you're ready to drink them?

    Force Carbing vs. Priming

Ok that sounds good. So is there any reason that someone would prefer to Prime over Force Carbing?

    Force Carbing vs. Priming

For the first time I kegged one of my batches (so much better than bottling by the way, IMO atleast) and am planning on force carbing it after I let it age. For all of you experienced keggers are there different Pros and Cons of Force carbing and Priming? And what is your preference...

    Wort Container to Measure OG?

When ever I try to measure the OG or my wort before pitching the yeast I almost always have difficulty finding a container to put the wort while I measure the OG that is tall enough yet skinny enough so that I don't waste too much. The tube that my hydrometer came with is tall enough but is so...
