Mine sat for 10days in secondary, and it wasn't bubbling much anymore so I went ahead and bottled it up. I haven't heard anything about getting bitter

I brewed a batch of CS on the 6 th of Nov.i racked to secondary on the 10th, and bottled on the 25th. My OG went way over at 1.070 and finished at 1.018. I don't know why it did that but the bear tastes good. I just cracked a bottle and it could use at least another week to 2 weeks to carbonate...

So when I first started brewing, everything I read and heard said doing a starter is the best way to go. All of my batches have began with a yeast starter on a DIY stir plate . Is there an advantage to doing a starter over direct pitching or what? What say you brewing gods?

Generally, a kit extract beer will ferment for about 2 weeks. At the end take a gravity reading. If it is down low you are ready to bottle. Give it another 2 weeks in the bottle before chilling and cracking one open! Cheers, don't worry it all come out fine. Welcome to our crazy world!
