    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Oh, gotcha.... I was planing on using hop bags to keep the bulk of the sediment out of the primary. I will pull them out after flameout to keep the alfalfa flavors to a minimum. I have no shortage of hops.... I love hops and have frikin tons......2 years ago while I was really gung ho...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

I'm trying to simplify the entire process... Started with extract on the stove top and chilling in my sink and went all the way to tricking out every part of the process down to a 2 burner brewstand made out of redwood, doing all grain with a hopback and a whirlpool chiller with a march pump and...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Thanks for the advice on not adding too much hops before chilling. I will use a smaller amount of my highest AA hops for bittering, FWH for flavor and dry hops for aroma. Good tip!

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Thanks for the feedback. I feel lazy because there are so many forum members that are meticulous with every detail of the brewing process and I am trying to find the fastest way to a great IPA. Just cramped on time. Is there any problem chilling in my boil kettle? Just trying to avoid cleaning...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Maybe this has already been brought up in this thread and if it has I apologize for repetition..... as it is 125 pages long, I haven't read all of it and a search yielded nothing..... If I use DME instead of a base malt and mash for 1 hour with a full specialty grain grain bill in a large...

    Worlds fastest IPA!

That sounds like a really good idea. I know the amount of hops is stupid gross, but im trying to us em up so my fiance can use the freezer too. I got greedy and bought more than I could use in a reasonable time. Not a bad position to be in.....:rockin:

    Worlds fastest IPA!

WOW, this thread got a lot of activity in the past 24 hours!!! Here are my replys. This is exactly what I am going for with this recipe. They are pellet and the pliney kinda thing is what I'm going for, without the gnarly bu's that are in that beer, although tasty. I really like the...

    Worlds fastest IPA!

I understand your point, but the time I actively spend brewing is what I am concerned with shortening. I know it will be fermenting and dry hopping for a long time, but I will be brewing this on a weekday after an 8 hour day at work and I really want the brew day to be as short as possible. Im...

    Worlds fastest IPA!

All I drink is IPA's. I know, boring, but it is what I like. I have been super busy with work and life so I was considering a new tech. I was thinking that the "15 min boil" would be a good technique for me, with all of the late hop additions. I have 35 lbs of hops in my freezer and no time to...

    15-Minute Amarillo Ale

Its funny. I have had about the exact same progression in my brewing history. Now I am super busy and don't have the time to do the 7 hour brew day all grain thing and am trying to find a way to make GOOD BEER FAST! All I drink is IPA's. I know, boring, but it is what I like. I was thinking...

Planning to brew myfirst IIPA today, hows it look ?

+ 2 to wonderbreads comments Cloudy IIPA is a good thing if it is from the hops (or chill haze not a big deal). Dry hop is a must. At least 2-3 oz's . I usually do 2-4 ozs at 5-6 days and 2-4 at 10-14 days. The second dry hop really does make a huge impact on the initial floraly aroma when you...

Pump trub out of fermenter with auto siphon prior to pitching...?

I am using the Jamil style chiller but I don't have a dip tube. I really need to get one of those going. I am using a 15 gal keggle. After I drain my keggle trough the spigot I have about 5 inches of trub in each fermenter. After reading in the other thread going on about trub in the fermenter...

Pump trub out of fermenter with auto siphon prior to pitching...?

Pump trub out of fermenter with auto siphon prior to pitching...?

3000, I use a whirlpool imersion chiller in a keggle with a spigot on the bottom and I still get about 5 inches of trub and hops in my fermenters. I think I must be releasing my wort too quickly. I know I am supposed to have a cone, but it seems to all end up in my fermenter. Maybe, I really...

Pump trub out of fermenter with auto siphon prior to pitching...?

Thanks for the responses. I guess if I were to care that there were trub in my fermenter, would it be possible to pump it out this way?

Pump trub out of fermenter with auto siphon prior to pitching...?

I did a few searches and came up with nothing... Has anyone used the autosiphon to physically pump out the trub from the bottom of their carboys. It seems like 15 min after transferring to the primary and before pitching the yeast, all of the trub has settled out (with whirlfloc) and is...
