My Home Brews always have that Green taste...

I hear you man, that's me too. I try, I really do, to look for some of those specific things, but the differentiation just isn't there for me. Good thing I didn't choose a career as chef!

Can I referment on top of the yeast once I rack out?

    Thanks Yooper and BigFloyd, this info is great stuff! :mug: {scurries off to write more notes}

My Home Brews always have that Green taste...

I don't have the answer (decided to state this upfront so as to not disappoint).... Does the flavor linger during the finish but is mostly absent during the initial taste? Not musty and not bitter but leafy to some extent, but not really vegetable like either? If so, I have the same thing...

Can I referment on top of the yeast once I rack out?

If you are brewing two different types of beers how do you avoid mixing the "flavor" from the first beer with the second? I.e. isn't it the case that there will be some hops material and sludge mixed with the yeast cake from the first batch? I'm a total newb so forgive me if this question is...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Just finished a 2 gallon brew of this an hour ago. It was only my fourth batch ever and the first time I tried more than a 1 gallon brew. I was surprised at how much lighter the wort was compared to the others I've done, so hopefully I didn't mess it up! I did hit 2 gallons post boil dead on...

    Adding wine to beer?

Doh! I've been looking and looking and looking for it but cannot get my hands on it so I just convinced myself that it would be terrible. Now I really want it!

Isn't that what Dogfish Head 61 Minute IPA is? (note the 61 NOT 60)

I went "pro" - What it actually takes to do so

Great thread! MOAR! I have exactly 3 one gallon batches under my belt (LOL), but nonetheless it is absolutely fascinating to read about someone taking the hobby to prime time.

    Boil temp ?

Is it true that a rolling boil will somehow cause more evaporation vs a slow boil? Is it because even though 212 is the max, the reality is that not all water reaches this temp and that is what differentiates a rapid vs slow boil? Sorry, the extent of my cooking knowledge is helping my wife...

    I need a few pointers

Is this really the case? I thought I read somewhere on this forum that there are still so many yeast cells in the suspension that cold crashing couldn't possibly put a dent in their effectiveness. I'm asking in a bit of a panic as I have two batches bottle conditioning as we speak (my first...

I boiled most of my wort away...

A hydrometer reading with a gallon brew is tough, no? (because of the required ounces for the reading being taken from a small batch)

    Agave primer with no heat?

    Thanks!! :)

    Agave primer with no heat?

Hello all. Sorry for a rather noobish question but I can't seem to find a precise answer after multiple Google searches. I did one of those Brooklyn Brew Shop 1 gallon kits and just last weekend did the bottling step. Instead of using honey for priming, I used agave syrup. In the...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Fixed your post :) But seriously I will admit that Bud Light doesn't actually taste bad, it just doesn't taste like anything.

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Haha, the best part is the can.... "Certified Color". WTF?? AB have lost their mind.

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Sea Dog Blueberry - Yuk. I expected overtones of Blueberry but it tastes like what a Blueberry jolly rancher would taste like. DFH 120 Min - I know, this is sacrilegious, but I just didn't like it. At all. At $10 for 12 ounces, I like it even less.
