All it would give you is bitterness. Mid additions give you flavor and late additions give you aroma. I'm a big fan of single hop beers with lots of staggered hop additions to enjoy the complexity of a single hop variety.

I forget what I used, but the OP states 1 tsp of salt, not 1/4 tsp.

Look around for a welding or plumbing supply shop. I pay $18 to refill a 10 pound cylinder.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

Cheers! Kegged this one last week. Second time around on this recipe. I used triple the black pepper and a bunch of sage from the garden. Awesome! Finished down to 1.000.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

My $.02. I brewed this last summer exactly to recipe and loved it, but I personally wanted more pepper. Just brewed again with 2.5 tsp of pepper (and I threw in 10 fresh sage leaves from the garden) and it is perfect. I used 3711 btw and ramped it up to 80 degrees both times.

I had a batch of pale ale I made with US05 that looked just like that for the whole fermentation. Came out great.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

Belgian Pilsner malt or US 2 row? I brewed this with Breiss 2 row and it was awesome. I have both base malts on hand and was curious if anyone had tried brewing both ways and if the Pilsner makes a notable difference. If not I'll go with the less expensive 2 row. Thanks.

The recipe says to add the spice at 5 minutes left in the boil. I don't know about boiling the pumpkin for the full 60 minutes though. I'd look into that a little more.

Glad to hear that was it. A lot easier than pitching new yeast.

I'm assuming that you used a formula to adjust for FG using a refractometer? It doesn't read sugar content properly once you throw alcohol in the mix. You can convert your reading with a formula or just measure it with a hydrometer.
