    Bray's One Month Mead

I guess with it still fermenting that's probably the best option. I tend to worry about oxidation so I didn't even consider moving it back into the jug since I typically only rack my beers once. Not sure why I didn't think of that. It's Friday, my brain is mush and I need a beer!

    Bray's One Month Mead

I'm thinking of racking my mead out of my 1 gallon jug into a 3 gallon Mr. Beer bucket. (It's the next smallest fermenter I have and I can use it to bottle.) It's been in the jug for 3 weeks and I'd like to rack it atleast once and let it sit for another 5 weeks. That said, should I be worried...

    Bottle Carbonation issues

I'm having Carbonation issues with my Vanilla Peat Smoked Porter. I used the extract kit from Northern and added vanilla slurry at bottling. http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/peat-smoked-porter-extract-kit.html OG 1062, 1 packet of Safale US-05 Ale Yeast, Temp 65-70 in dark pantry, 2/3...

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

I'm currently brewing Superior Strong Ale (Midwest) and seem to experiencing lag in fermentation. It's a big beer with an original OG of 1.067 (mine was 1.062) and came with 2 packets for dry yeast. I brewed it and let it sit for 3 weeks in the primary. Midwest says on the kit it's an 8 month...

What Sanitisers and Cleaners are used.

If I'm cleaning the equipment off with hot water and Easy Clean right after I brew, do I still need to use Star San (or similar) before I brew again? I've only done one batch and I'm getting ready to do another.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone from BYO

I was thinking honey since I like the flavor. Flameout is the last 10 minutes of the boil right? How much would you recommend using?

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone from BYO

I bought the SNPA clone from Northern and I'm looking for suggestions on how to improve the flavor and/or increase ABV. I'm thinking of adding some honey but I've never done that before so I thought I'd ask and see what you guys thought.

    Best use of Vanilla beans

After reading up a bit it sounds like most people don't like the flavor of extract. For 1 gallon I'd only need 1/2 of a bean? Maybe my local grocery store will have them.

    Best use of Vanilla beans

I'm cheap so I'm considering using vanilla extract in a 1 gallon secondary from my Irish Stout to experiment. Any recommendations on the amount I should use?

Cool. I'll look into that. Thanks for all of your help. May the beer Gods smile upon you!

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

I figured it wouldn't but if the first pitch of yeast stalled because of the temp then it might finish the job. I'm curious, why skip the secondary? I planned on doing a gravity reading Sunday (14 days) and if it's right I'd move it to the secondary.

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

I wrote Hydrometer but I meant Refractometer. My kit didn't come with a hydrometer tube (dumb) but my brother had bought me a refractometer so my reading was with that. I did read up and saw that taking a measurement off the top could cause it to be high. I did take it off the top because I just...

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

I’m a new member and new to brewing. I’ve helped other people brew a few batches but this batch is my first. I’m concerned about Fermentation due to no airlock activity. Irish Stout brewed Feb. 24th I originally took an OG reading of 1.075 which is quite a bit higher than...
