Moving bottles after capping. Oxidation risk?

The rule I've followed is two readings, a couple days apart, to ensure fermentation is complete. I'm still fairly new, but I've never noticed any oxidation flavor in any of my batches so far. Perhaps the taste is there for my experienced drinkers, but I've never received any feedback to that...

Moving bottles after capping. Oxidation risk?

How is one supposed to take gravity readings or dry hop without opening the bucket?

How To Use The FastFerment For Wine

How many kits have you made with this method? What have your results been like? You state that you are providing precise directions, but your nutrient schedule is not precise. After 10 days, fermentation is likely complete or nearly so, so the addition of Fermaid K will not provide any...

    Medusa hops

That's the first time I've ever seen ditch-weed used as a taste descriptor. Peachy ditch-weed doesn't sound like an ideal pairing.

How to split my brew day.

Well that sure isn't constructive. Just because he doesn't have large chunks of free time doesn't mean there aren't ways to make all grain work. It might not be ideal or what you'd like to do, but there are people who do something similar with good results.

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

You would have to move a late addition much closer to 60 in order to bump the IBUs noticeably. Those late additions add flavor and aroma, but little bitterness. Depending on the IBUs of your late additions, you might be able to move a small amount of them to 60 to get closer to the original...

    Won my first competition!

Have you tried the Saranac Caramel Porter? I tried one a couple weeks ago and could barely finish it. The sweetness overpowered everything by the end of the glass. Is this comparable?

    Brewing on Vacation!

Are you doing this just to say you did? I realize none of the individual steps are much work, but they all add up. I wouldn't would to schlepp that stuff around, especially a glass container that will be filled with super sticky liquid, and there usually isn't any extra space in the car...

    Confession Time

Not if he enjoys the homebrewing process. Just like other artists and craftsmen, maybe he finds enjoyment in making something that others enjoy. Edit: Wow. I'm in that dude's head.

    Peach or Pear Cider

I know this won't help you currently, but if you live near any peach orchards, stop by in the summer and ask for overripes. They are (gasp) overripened and are very soft, often with bruising, but very cheap. Most importantly, they are very juicy. We usually cut them up for use in cobblers...

How to handle this keg for road trip?

To follow up a little on the parks idea, map out what route you're going to take and start identifying potential spots along the way. There are travel blogs for some of the major highways that list places that aren't too far off the interstate that are kid-friendly. The same goes for rest...

    Godspeed, my friend. Godspeed.

    Kolsch - What say you?

The grains and extract should be fresh. I have WLP029 in the fridge and will make a starter as per my normal process. I can hold ferm temps in the low 60s in a swamp cooler in my basement. I'm going to give it a shot and see what I get. I don't have a discerning palate at this point, so...

Thanks for your insights. How many extract Koelsches have you had?

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

Need to brew this one again. This was my most well-received batch and I think I have almost all the ingredients.

    Kolsch - What say you?

That's good to hear. Either I got a bad bottle or just don't care for the Stoudts version. Hopefully I'll get a chance to pick up the DME tomorrow and can brew on Sunday or Monday morning.

    Kolsch - What say you?

I'd normally say I'd forget that right away, but the counting by 2s aspect means I'll probably remember. :mug:

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Mind sharing your recipe for the Mike's clone?

    Kolsch - What say you?

I'll go with Koelsches since it would take me forever to figure out the umlaut. :D I'll have to see if I can find any more singles to try. I know Harpoon has a Kolsch as their summer beer. Maybe find a place where I can mix and match. Thanks!

    Kolsch - What say you?

I really enjoyed the white wine flavors I did pick up, so that is encouraging as well. Thanks ColoHox. This has been reassuring. I'll have to pick up some wheat DME to add to the mix and give it a shot.
