    Good info!

    Grainfather!!

I don't and my beer is crystal clear. Don't know if that's a coincidence, but I've heard the same thing about haze and am not going to mess with success.

You’re gonna like it. Ask questions when stuff crops up. Plenty of folks on this site that have brewed a lot of beer in these things. Happy Early Birthday!

    Grainfather!!

Yeah, reading about everyone's issues can be a bit overwhelming, but all-in-all, the GF is a great product and, most importantly, the company stands by its products. I'm about 50 brews into mine and couldn't imaging going back to my old propane fired system.

Kegerator tower cooling - advice wanted

Agree that it, to some extent, is a good thing; however, what I was seeing was a more than I thought proper. After posting, I noted that the tower is insulated with a thin piece of Styrofoam, but the top piece was not. I installed a piece there and the condensation has been greatly reduced.

Kegerator tower cooling - advice wanted

Hello all, I have a Keg King Series 4 kegerator with a tower cooling fan. Wondering if I should run the cooling fan all of the time? In theory, that seems like a good idea, but I'm noticing a lot of condensation form on top of the tower. Hoping to keep the beer lines cool without the mess...

4 1/2 hours is definitely doable. CONGRATS on the purchase of your GF!:mug:

The GF is perfect for indoor brewing and, compared to what else is out there, you get a lot for the price. I haven't owned mine long enough to know about what to anticipate with sales prices. I do recommend the use of the Graincoat (~$50) or a DIY similar item. The boil on my 110V system...

    Grainfather!!

I WISH I were an '80 - lol. I predate the MGA, let alone the MGB.:mug: I agree that a jump of that magnitude was high (to be considered a result of the lengthened mash), but I was still A-OK with getting back to numbers that my software calculated I should be getting. A few months away from...

    Grainfather!!

It's an '80 - last year of production. The B power train is surprisingly robust - easy to keep them running strong. I brewed the robust porter again that I talked about in post 3262. The first one came out 10 points low. Ouch! That one was a 16 lb grain bill with a 60 minute mash and 60...

    Grainfather!!

I am running a MGB as my daily driver. Simple to maintain and a blast to drive. Boxster is a great car as well! Thanks for the recommendations. I have started following item #1, but not waiting as long as mid boil. I'll increase my "wait time" on that one. Item #2: Increasing sparge water...

    Grainfather!!

My sink faucet has about 180 degrees of motion between off and "full" on. I open the faucet about 1/2 way to achieve maximum flow without over pressurizing the hose connection.

    Grainfather!!

I run my cooling water through an immersion cooler (sitting in an ice bath) and then through the Grainfather cooler. The immersion cooler knocks my wort temp down about 10 more degrees than just going through the GF cooler. By throttling the GF pump outlet, I can cool my wort down into the low...

    Grainfather!!

I'm on batch 30 or so and couldn't agree more. I still have problems with the silicone gaskets and would love to see a fix in this area. Slipping the gasket around the bottom of the basket seems like a great solution. C'mon Grainfather - give this idea a try!:ban: I have not double crushed...

    Grainfather!!

OK - here's a question. I meet or exceed Beersmith/Grainfather estimates when brewing with 14lbs. of grain or less. I do not meet estimates when using larger amounts of grain. See my post #3262 above - 10 points off the estimate. Ouch! I have been brewing 6.08 gallon batches, which start...

    Good idea!

    Grainfather!!

It's always something I guess. Brewed today and everything was working great! 16lbs of grain for a 6.08 gallon batch. Split mash. Mashed in at 140 and held for 30 minutes. No overflow whatsoever - it was beautiful! Raised temp to 158 at the 30 minute point, held it for another 30 minutes...

    Grainfather!!

I pulled the check valve and am not seeing the filter clog any more; however, I am periodically finding the entire filter floating around on the bottom and then the entire system is clogged. It seems like it is securely attached to the pump inlet and I find nothing wrong with the small rubber...

    Grainfather!!

Eric, Good on you for achieving 85%! I'm consistently running 75% - happy with that, but would like more, of course. Scaling is a pretty complex art and I'm in agreement with Sagath that using a program such as Beersmith (there are others, of course) that scales all of your ingredients, and...
