    Ingredients storage

For full bags I use rubbermaid style totes. Just store the bag in them, not emptying the grain. Once I get to 30-40lbs move to a couple vittle vaults. Someone in our club started using these. They look very functional and cheap. They're at Sams - 40lbs, foodgrade, handle & spout for pouring, & $15.

    Which Software to pay for?

What's the cost on these various systems? Are the files interchangeable if you wanted to convert somewhere down the line? I used Beersmith since about 2017 and enjoy it. They're now up to version 3 which I am on.

    Pellet smokers

I've had a Traeger for over 10 years. I also have a Weber gas grill. For me, the Traeger is primarily a smoker and I use it for few other random items to cook, but it doesn't take the place of my gas grill. I know the pellet grill folks try to sell you on it taking the place of your other...

    Quick disconnects for EVA barrier

I'm going to have to go with the connecting directly to the barb, as I do not believe there will be enough room in the tower for three connectors. Good news is those barbs are super thin. I'm also not sure how I'm going to connect to the chill plate as it is pretty tight, seven pass plate. May...

    Quick disconnects for EVA barrier

I'm doing a redesign on my jockey box and as part of that switching to EVABarrier lines. I guess I'm just over thinking it. A simple union like above would work fine and be cheaper than what I was thinking. Thanks I use two towers attached to a wooden lid on top of my cooler. I would like to...

    Quick disconnects for EVA barrier

I'm looking for a solution on my jockey box. I need some quick disconnects, in the beer line, for my beer tap towers. I see quick disconnects for gas, and maybe those might work, but nothing specific for the eva barrier liquid. I need to be able to remove the towers easily for transport.

    Mash paddle decision

I have a 3v system, RIMS. I have a hose which sits on top of the grain bed when I recirculate. I just let that hose lay on top of the false bottom (I have water underneath the false bottom area, keeps the grain from falling through), put the grain on top of the hose/false bottom and start...

    outdoor brewing

I'm an outdoor, edge of the garage, brewer. Three vessel, triple propane burner, except when I do decoction, then it's four burners. I brew year around, but fair weather - not on windy days or if it's going to rain too much.

    New Chapman Fermenter Issues

I bought some stuff on Howdy Brewer. Wasn't a great experience. Yes the prices are good, but I got three different packages. The first was less than a week (ups or fedx), but missing a pack of yeast and a bag of grain. The yeast showed up a week later (priority usps). Tried for a month to get...

Preventing O2 ingress when cold-crashing for lagering - ideas?

Would using another liquid help with this? I've always used vodka, is alcohol better or worse, do you think?

First Time Keezer Build - What do you wish you knew/What lessons did you learn?

I'm on my second keezer (over 15+ years) and didn't attach the collar on either one. Just a little weather stripping. The 2x8's provide plenty of weight. It's not going anywhere. I do insulate the wood with that silver stuff on a roll. I used 2x8's so the ledge will fit two more kegs, not for...

Dense foam in mash and boil

Could it be your cleaning agent from your last brew/cleaning? It just so thick. I've seen/had foamy before, but that looks super thick. What brand of pils?

-Kolsch yeast, definitely. Split the batch if you can, see which kolsch yeast you like and let us know. -Pils malt -10-20% Vienna malt is fine -No wheat on the list, but l like a 1/4lbs or so of that. -Pearle bittering, Tett finishing - shoot for 25-30 ibu's -Ferment at 60 for 10 days, then...

Dense foam in mash and boil

I've used all kinds of pils malt, never seen anything like it. What brand of pils is it? Have you brewed or used it before? Did you taste the foam? How about the taste of the wort produced?

    Dough In- Devices and techniques?

When I underlet, I do it at a relatively slow speed takes 3-5 minutes for 10lbs grain bill. I do not stir until the grain is fully covered and I've finished underletting. I give it a quick stir, let it rest for about 10 minutes, then start recirculating (RIMS). There should not be any dough...
