    This years rhizomes... Nikobrew

I think I spoke too soon, as I checked today and there were little tiny shoots coming from the buried rhizomes. Hopefully they take off. The Centennials are kicking ass though. I hope the cascades catch up.

    This years rhizomes... Nikobrew

I ordered 2 Centinnials and 2 Casades from Niko. The 2 Centinnials looked healthy and the 2 Cascades looked like gabage. Sure enough, I planted all 4 and the 2 Centinnials are growing and the 2 Cascade are no go. Bummer. I ordered 2 of each variety for safety but I guess I should have ordered 1...

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

Ugggh, doing a sailboat delivery (2006 Hunter 31) with/for my brother from San Fransisco to Marina Del Rey, CA. Tried last weekend and just sat on a boat waiting for good weather. This weekend looks incredible though. I have about 30 minutes sailing experience but our Skipper is a certified...

Tired of fruit flies? heres the cure....

You only need a small amount of dish soap to cut the surface tension of the liquid, think of a those old dish soap commercials where a drop clears the whole oily mess. I find it best to use a container with slick walls as well. I use a small pyrex bowl. I got super mad at the fruit flies and...

Best deal you've gotten on brewing gear?

I got a nice burner, 8 gal turkey fryer aluminum pot and propane tank for 30 bucks. Got the tank filled for 8 bucks and started brewing in the backyard like a champ. lol.

    Anyone buy from Beverage Factory?

I used a new user coupon that got my like 10 percent off and they rotate between 20% off kegging and 20% wine supplies like every week. I got a 5lbs CO2 tank, a sanke/corny conversion line kit and a regulator for like $120? The tank was 50 some, the regulator was 45 and the rest was the line kit...

    Stout

I know reading this will ruin stouts for someone out there. Because of comments here, all I taste on hefe's anymore is banana. All I taste on Leinenkugel's beers is fruit loops. Haha.

    29mm capping bell diameter

Yup, the company made a mistake and are shipping me the correct one as I type this. Thanks for your help in assuring me I was not crazy. It sounds as though all the 29mm bells are the silver color. I could have avoided all this but my LHBS was out for a few weeks and they had them today...

Wort Chiller: Standard or Hose fittings?

Also, with the bathroom, lowes and HD sell faucet thread to garden hose attachments that quick snap on and off, so in theory, you could get the garden hose attachment Chiller setup and be set up for either situation.

Wort Chiller: Standard or Hose fittings?

With the laundry hook up, I'm pretty sure you just need a standard garden hose Y splitter coming from the wall. Look for a solid/hefty one, you don't want leaks in a laundry room you don't frequent every day. Plus, someone else mentioned this, you can use the spent hot water from the chiller on...

    29mm capping bell diameter

Thanks! Yeah, the ID nearest to the nut portion is roughly 26mm with an OD 36mm at the base of the bell. The base of the bell on my original one was actually slightly larger at 37.5mm. I was really looking forward to capping this weekend.

    29mm capping bell diameter

A 29mm replacement bell and some 29mm caps arrived today and I went to put it on my Red Baron capper but I found the bells look the exact same size. I know the physical difference between the caps is very slight, is it just as slight in the bells as well? If anyone with a caliper or ruler and...

    Swmbo

My lady loves my homebrewing. She helps out on brew days and she wants to do an chocolate coffee stout that'll be ready for her birthday. We are dating and she doesn't live with me so it's my mess to clean after brewing. If we lived together, it would probably be more of the same because she...

    buying online

I stopped brewing five years ago and just had most (no glass carboys or corny kegs) shipped to California. So i've been slowly expanding again. I have Amazon Prime so I'm pretty spoiled on ship times and I'm a tinkerer so I toy around with various tools I pick up from there. Never real...
