    Cherry Extract

I want to pep up my Irish red ale with a bit of cherry extract. Are the any suggestions as to how much and when to add. I was to give it a little Zatarain punch. This will be for a 5 gallon Irish red ale. Any suggestions would be great.

    Scottish ale export (austin homebrew)

Question. I recently brewed a Scottish Ale extract kit using S33 yeast and it started quickly and stopped just a quick. I know you should never rely on the airlock but was wondering if there is a suitable temp to hold this at to finish out. The airlock inner plastic piece has been laying on the...

    Austin homebrew

Ok, just reviewed the order and since I can only do extract, they already send milled grains. So I should be ok. Thanks for the quick responses to the subject. I should of read the fine print better. Thanks again.

    Austin homebrew

Hmmm. Maybe I overlooked the option. I know there were many drop down menus on that site. Ill see what I get this Thursday when it arrives. I don't know if any home brew stores in the columbus indiana area besides a winery that sells BB kits but they have a limited selection. Ill use the rolling...

    Austin homebrew

I just purchased the Scottish ale 80 shilling and I was wondering if the grains are going to arrive pre-crushed or not? If not, best method of doing it yourself without having to buy a mill right now. Thanks.

    Belgian triple

Question: my Belgian has been bottled and taste great however I noticed that the beer is very very clear in the bottle but once it hits the fridge, the chill haze sets in and the bottle is no longer opaque. Are there any concerns, and will this haze break at all? Thanks.

    Star san foam

Everybody says to don't fear the foam, but is this adequate? Just wondering. BB dunkelweizen in the secondary

    Sample testing.

When I did this the fermentation has stopped so just a few bubbles on the surface. The hydrometer stays pretty still, it's just the small bubble cling age to the meter that throws me for a loop. Why take a dry sample instead of one you can taste. Thanks

    Sample testing.

Would checking the FG be the same if you were to put the hydrometer into the initial fermenter and let it float vs. pulling a sample with the wine thief which the sample is extracted deeper into the beer. Thanks.

    Heating pad

    Yes, too high. Sorry.

    Heating pad

Just wondering if a heating pad will help kick start my dunkelweizen and tripel. They had very good fermentation for about a day the dropped out. I want to kick start these because both beer are below their FG range. Dunkelweizen is 5 days fermenting and tripel is 2 weeks in secondary.

    Belgian tripel tastes like puke

I was just going by what the instructions called for. Could I post add some yeast at this point in time? If I didn't give it a full initial fermentation would additional yeast help? Thanks for you advice.

    Belgian tripel tastes like puke

Ok. I'll let her in for many more weeks since all the responses have been describing the problem. You are the pro's and I thank you for your insight. Cheers

    Belgian tripel tastes like puke

It was in the initial for 5 days. The fermentation was vigorous and quick. It has been in the secondary for 7 days now. The yeast was part of the BB kit so I don't remember specifics.
