    Saison Cottage House Saison

24 hours in and this is fermenting vigorously. Visible fermentation started in about 4 hours. I may have to brew another 5 gallon batch next weekend and drop it on the yeast cake. The attached picture is 8 hours after pitching.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I am currently brewing this. I am going to pitch it on to a 3711 yeast cake from last weekend's brew which was a lighter Saison (OG 1.048). I just transferred last weekends to the secondary. Has anyone pitched this onto a previous used cake? This is a great yeast. My Saison from last week...

    Carbonation Help

62 degrees. I can move them to a warmer room and give them some more time. My first batch in the bottle was a porter and that was nicely carbed after a week at 62. Thanks

    Carbonation Help

I bottled a DIPA batch 10 days ago. There is no carbonation at all in the bottle. I know I didn't forgot to add my priming solution to the bottling bucket so I think I may have made 1 of 3 mistakes: 1. I didn't get a proper seal on the bottle. I don't believe this is the case but don't...

    Full Boil on Stove

My cooktop has a 16500 BTU Dual rink wok burner. Does anyone have experience with this type of burner and if it will bring a full 6.5 gallons of wort to boil in a reasonable amount of time? Thanks

    Size of Flask for Starter

If you have a growler just sanitize and use that. They work great.

    First Beer Success!

By nature I am not a patient person. I read alot on this forum that said leave it alone in the carboy for at least 2 weeks. I tool my first reading after 14 days and the FG was dead on. I am pretty confident in my process at this point. First day was a bit hectic but the only oh ****...

    First Beer Success!

Final had my first bottle of my first brew last night. It was a robust porter and it came out way beyond my expectations. I drink Allagash Black and Smuttynose normally and this compares very well in head, taste, and mouth feel. I think all the research I did on this site really made a...

It's Saturday Brewday - Watchya Makin?

This is my 4th Brew. I am brewing a Dry Iris stout to get ready for St. Patricks day. Bottle a Porter last weekend. This was my first brew and can wait until next weekend to sample. Tempted to throw a bottle in the fridge and test during my brewing session.

    Secondary Needed?

I have completed my first 2 Brews and they are on day 4 in the fermenter. Everything looks good so far. I have read a lot and it seems that the general consensus is you don't need a secondary unless it is a big beer. The two beers I brewed are a Double IPA OG of 1.08 and a Porter OG...
