    New to Cask conditioning

Thanks for the info Dan. Can I use the cask indefinitely as long as I keep it clean and sanitized? It was not previously used for anything. It's brand new and I need to drill a keystone hole but can't seem to find instructions anywhere. I'm planning on giving it a good rinse a few times to...

    New to Cask conditioning

I forgot to ask, what are the best beers to start with imparting that oak aging on? Thanks

    New to Cask conditioning

Hey guys, I'm relatively new on the home brew scene but the whole reason I got into it in the first place was Cask Conditioned Real Ale. I just received my first oak cask (23 litre) and I am looking for information on drilling the keystone hole. I don't want to touch it until I know what to do...

    A great simple recipe

All the apple juices I've seen thus far have vitamin c added. Will this affect fermentation?

    Secondary fermdnt Pilsner

I'm fermenting a Pilsner which I used Wyeast 2278 Czech Pils strain with and I've let it sit at basement ambient temperature (50's) for about 14 days, and my plan is to transfer to a secondary in a fridge and slowly lower the temperature and leave it for 60-90 days. The wort hasn't cleared up...

    A great simple recipe

I'm thinking about trying a simple cider recipe similar to the one here, but trying a Czech Pils yeast. Good or bad idea? Why?

    Over Yeasting??

Thanks guys. Sounds like if I want to try making a high gravity beer I'll have to start experimenting with recipes from scratch. This will save me a lot of time from fiddling too much with the mix. Greatly appreciated.

    Over Yeasting??

    Pre-made not permafrost! Stupid autocorrect.

    Over Yeasting??

Also, I'm using pre-made Wort kits from The Brew House, and just making alterations for my personal taste.

    Over Yeasting??

Thanks for such a quick reply. I'll make sure to try more sugar in the next batch. How much for a 5 gallon batch would be best to reach an 8-9% ABV?

    Over Yeasting??

In regards to over yeasting, would using double yeast and adding extra sugar raise the alcohol content of the finished beer? I just made my first batch (Stout altered to be a Baltic Porter with a coffee and chocolate flavors added), and the alcohol content is only about 4% by volume when I was...
