    PBW / Star San question

Today I my keg kicked. I washed / shook with PBW. Do I have to star san keg right away or can I wait until next batch? Also, I'm bone dry on co2. Is it ok to wait to run PBW through keg dip stick? I don't want to dissemble keg. I did victoriously shake keg while cleaning. Will this be enough...

    Ball lock disconnect leaking

Also keep in mind I obviously tried to get it to seal multiple times with the first disconnect and nothing worked (even with both o rings) what really chaps my rear is this was a brand new keg and a brand new kegerator system. Only used for one batch prior to this incident.

    Ball lock disconnect leaking

So when the leak happened I re lubricated the o ring, inspected the disconnect and I could not get it to seal. Small hissing noise from that area. I then replaced the o ring on poppit with a brand new one and re lubed, still a leak! I head to the local store and bought a new disconnect, come...

    Ball lock disconnect leaking

So I kegged my new batch today and I noticed a hissing noise coming from the ball lock gas disconnect. After replacing the post o ring with no success. I immediately went to my home brew shop to replace the disconnect. The experienced guy there said there is no real sealing function on the...

    First All Grain Troubles

Did you aerate the wort? If not, this could be the reason for a lag. I would give it another day. As long as you have chilled the wort before fermentation begins, you won't have any bad esters (off flavors) to deal with. Hope this helps!

    Mosaic and Cascade pairing?

The Columbus hop addition has a really strong alpha, 48 IBU just from that addition (according to beersmith). I was shooting for 60 and my fermenter smells so hoppy right now, I frikin love it!!!

    Mosaic and Cascade pairing?

Do you think a mosaic and cascade pairing would fit nice for an IPA? I used Maris otter for the base malt, used Columbus for the bitter and then did a 40 min .5 oz addition of mosaic and did a 1.5oz addition of mosaic at flame out Going to dry hop in two weeks wanted some good ideas but had 1 oz...

Worried about sediement and carboy volume

I'm going to measure out the carboy after this batch to see what my volume was. I measured it from ground up with a tape measure so I can be sure

Worried about sediement and carboy volume

Yes I did and last brew I did not have as significant of a boil off rate, I started boil with 6.5 gallons (target was 6.41) 60 min boil. I just find it hard to believe I boiled off over 1.5 gal..I do have a polar ware wide mouth kettle though.

Worried about sediement and carboy volume

That's the weird part I used beer smith for all volumes and checked my pre boil gravity and my OG and I was right on the money!!!

Worried about sediement and carboy volume

Holy smokes has it settled! I pitched hot this time I want some fruity ester so I decided to pitch at 80 degrees. Checked before bed last night and some co2 action but no bubbles yet, woke up this morning it was 66 degrees and bubbling its booty away. Cannot believe how much it's compacted...

Worried about sediement and carboy volume

Second all time batch of all grain here. This receipt called for a 1.5 oz hop additional at flame out. 1.) I'm concerned I did not come close to post boil volume. This is a 6.5 gallon carboy I just purchased today and it looks extremely short. Any idea from you experienced guys where my...
