    Reactivating yeast?!

I went to my local brew store. They said to try and transfer to another bucket, add another yeast packet, and yeast energizer to the wort (5- .5tsp of it). Temp is stable at 74. Hopefully I should see a result by Sunday.

    Yeast for mead

Made my first mead with my brother-in-law. When visiting my beer store the lady said I would need one package of Pure pitch yeast for 5 gallons. Reading the package, it says an SG over 1.065 needs 3 packets. My current SG is 1.096. Can I get away with one package or do I need to go buy two more?

    Reactivating yeast?!

Can I add another packet of yeast? If the temp raise doesn’t work?

    Flavoring during primary

Was wondering if I can add cocoa nibs to my stout while it finishes it’s primary fermentation? I hit a snag when the temp went too low and fermentation slowed significantly. I got the temp back up but now want to see if I can add the nibs around Wednesday if it hasn’t finished. Any thoughts?

    Reactivating yeast?!

Temperature is at 65 now. I’ve seen it bubble a few times and the air lock is still pushing the water. My next question is...can I add cocoa nibs while it’s fermenting if it hasn’t gotten done by Wednesday?

    Reactivating yeast?!

Thanks for the replies! For more info the refractometer reading was 13 (1.053) and should drop to 7 (1.014) for the OG-FG to be completed. It’s at 10.5 but should have been closer to 7 by now. I think the yeast is inactive bc the readings haven’t dropped since Thursday. I put a towel under...

    Reactivating yeast?!

I making a milk chocolate coconut Stout. I added my yeast and it pitched successfully and it started to bubble after several hours. I noticed on Friday that it was getting to be too cold in my basement and the temperature Was at or went below the 60°. The fermentation temperature for the yeast...

    Adding extract before dry hopping

I’m making a peach ipa and have added 2 cups worth of frozen peaches after defrosting, boiling, cooling and adding it to the beer. After a few days, I haven’t found the kick of peach in looking for. I’ll add the next 2 cups I bought as frozen peaches, but if that doesn’t do it to my...

    Overflowing bottle upon opening

No, I mean it’ll prob be a game time decision. I’ll let this one sit in the fridge for the rest of the day and try it tonight. If it’s not where I want to be I’ll put another one in the fridge and let it sit till New Year’s Eve mid afternoon. If those two don’t work out the way I want them to...

    Overflowing bottle upon opening

I did bring the beer upstairs from the basement because it was getting too cold and it’s in a room temperature setting a couple feet from a heater I did take one bottle and put it in the fridge. I’m going to leave it in there for a few hours to see what it is like.

    Overflowing bottle upon opening

I let it sit for awhile. 2-3 weeks. I forgot about it for awhile and it was sitting in my basement. My basement was cold for awhile which may have hindered that process. If that’s the case and it was cold and not done fermenting, would letting it sit in the bottle cure it?

    Overflowing bottle upon opening

I’ve brewed a brown ale with vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chocolate (using vodka to absorb into cocoa nibs) I’ve let it sit for close to 2 weeks. (1 week and 4 days) I went and tried to see where it is in the carbonation process and when I opened the bottle it made a decent release of air...

    Passion Fruit Ale

So 12 days later I found the book. I changed the recipe the 2nd time I did it. Unfortunately I didn’t leave any after notes about taste and such. I remember my first batch was good but tart with 8 cups of pulp. New grain bill: 7lbs 2-row 3lbs- gold LME 2lbs- caramel 80L 1lbs of flaked wheat...
