    Farmhouse Brewing Supply- The Store!

First of all, congrats on the new shop! I am thrilled to see people so enthusiastic in new ventures. That keg deal is great, are you sure you are in business to make money? I really don't need any more, but hmmm at that price.... Anyway, I probably would not hold my next order just for the...

    Northern Hills Homebrewers Club

Oh, and we're checking with the Brewery to see about bringing homebrews onto the premises. Until we get a definitive answer, let's not jeopardize their license. So for the first meeting at least (unless we hear back otherwise) lets leave the six packs, bombers, growlers, cornies, half-barrels...

    End of Fermentation 0.998. Why?

I am a little more clear-headed right now so let me give this a shot. If: a) The yeast have been "killed off" and you have racked off of the bulk of the sediment, or b) The alcohol level is in excess of what the yeast will survive in you might not restart fermentation. I just added a boat...

    End of Fermentation 0.998. Why?

Thank you Dicky & Yooper. Water=1.000 thus no more fermentables is the missing link my mind couldn't put together somehow.... why I couldn't put together the basics is beyond me. :o

    End of Fermentation 0.998. Why?

Maybe I missed this, and admittedly I am new to the higher OG arts, but I understand that fermentation is complete at or slightly below 0.998. What I am curious about is why? Is it a factor of the OG and yeast just giving up once the alcohol level increases beyond their tolerance levels? For...

    FS / FT 20lb CO2 tank(s) - Southeast PA Local

Okay, I have a few more steel 20 pounders than I need. Here is what I am looking at: $60 as is (probably out of hydro) $85 full (good hydro stamp) ---or--- I'd be willing to consider a trade of a tank for a reasonably well made cooler-type mash tun if you have just upgraded or have an...

    My Future Keezer

Very nice! I like that you spaced your faucets out and could add two more down the line if you choose. That is exactly what I am looking for. I realize they are rough markings, but will the 24" drip tray catch the two end faucets? I guess I'm looking for the inside dimension of the main coffin.

    Modular Keezer Build

Same location for me. I am debating using a pre-built kitchen base cabinet for simplicity and speed (removing the drawer and reattaching the panel), or custom building one. I would rather go the custom route as I will know the quality will be there. However, until the shegage (little more than a...

    Modular Keezer Build

Fair warning this might take a while. As a single father, it will likely take me some time to accomplish this. Given all the great threads detailing the inspiration, I figured that I would throw my lot in too. The goal is to design something that is modular in nature. Something that can grow...

    Yeast starter blow off

Had my first blow off... maybe I should start using fermcap in my starters. Left this morning with a little trickle coming out from under the foil. 4 hours later: It took the foil cap right off the top! That's 1600ml of 001 ~20 hours in.

    Not So Newbie Thoughts

I have been wanting to write this for some time now. This really is more of a feedback post. But given it's geared more to new brewers, I thought I would post it here. If the Mods feel so inclined, feel free to move it. I won't be offended. Given my 10+ year hiatus, I consider myself a "newbie."...
