    Pictures of hop plants

:mug: That was the first year after moving a ~5 year old plant. I wasn't expecting it to grow very much but it did.

    Hop perfume

We started making soap in 2021 from boredom. 2022 hop season, my wife tried to infuse some with olive oil. There is almost a sweet hay smell but it doesn't have much for a hops smell anymore. I also think we picked them too late.

    Pictures of hop plants

Fun find from 2021. I don't claim to be good at taking pictures or growing hops. :drunk: I was told these are willamette by the person who gave me the rhizome.

    Bottle Cleaning Question?

I've been using B Brite, something similar to Oxi Clean. When I clean a bottle that came from a case of beer that I bought at the distributor (store) I will soak it in B Brite so that the label will come off(scrubbing is usually involved), then set it aside. I'll do 5 or so at a time in the sink...

    Which one??? brew pot question

I use the bayou 44 quart version of this one my glass flat top electric stove and do full 6 gallon extract boils (on my second batch now so I'm still a n00b). My handles were welded not riveted like some people complain about. Check with the seller if you can. I'm not amazon suave.

    Just looking into setting up

My local home brew shop (LHBS) owner is pretty cool in that when I go in with money held out in my hand and say I need to burn this(not literally), she'll point me to things that make life easier, not the most expensive things. If you have a good knack for reading people, try the same. I...

First brew: White House Honey Ale

I did an Irish Red Ale as my first and I had the exact same thing happen to my brew. It only did it once and I replaced with a sanitized airlock and all was well after that. Soon as I replaced the clogged up air lock mine began to bubble instantly. I got my kit form the LHBS.

Help I think I ruined my batch of red ale

I'm only on my second batch, but my first was an Irish Red Ale and I added the yeast to ~100F water for awhile before pitching it maybe 30-40 mins, per the instructions on the yeast packet, ignoring the directions from the local brew shop, and the second day or night I had a HUGE explosion and...

    two noob questions

Saturday as 4 days ago Saturday? I'm on my first batch also but I would say no, wait at least 10 days. I'm at 9 days and my air lock is down to 1:35 between bubbles but I am going to go for 2 weeks as long as my hydrometer readings are the same. Just one other tip that I've read, the secondary...

Well my wife did buy me the brew kit, maybe I have to "repay" her so to make it even when she has some homebrew.
