Need ideas for automating gas engine water pump

good thinking, so far I’ve been just running a smaller pump off a 5 gallon can until it runs out of gas. Also thinking of getting a propane conversion kit for the next pump for ease of fueling, but haven’t made a full decision there. I think that is what I’m trying to do, probably not good at...

Need ideas for automating gas engine water pump

Here is my very crude attempt at trying to plan out a system for turning on a gas pump via a timer. I’m putting it all together in my head and it makes sense, but once I start to plan it out it makes me question myself. At this point having an irrigation system that will run on a timer and...

    New house, outdoor brew area/bar

Long time no update. Now that we are moved into the house progress has been much slower. Finally closing in on the upstairs bathroom. It has definitely been a learning experience but proud of the results so far. We are getting close to working on the outside of the house. Maybe a deck and space...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Corned a brisket and did my first try at pastrami. Turned out perfectly edible. And wasn’t smoked but also made some teriyaki cougar jerky in operation clean out the freezer.

    New house, outdoor brew area/bar

Finished the kitchen and dining room flooring this morning. Still have to get trim down, but feels good to have it out of the way.

    New house, outdoor brew area/bar

Before and after two coats down on the upstairs bedroom. Strategically decided to leave some of the “character” in the 120 yr old floor. Not having to sand for another day definitely wasn’t the deciding factor.

    New house, outdoor brew area/bar

Fairly successful day and a half of sanding. I learned that floor drum sanders aren’t designed for 6’6” people. Need to get an edger sander rented and finish sanding. Time for a beer.

    New house, outdoor brew area/bar

Wait, I’m still working on this house? Yea, like I said slow and steady. Having to move from our current house by May has put the fire back under me. Here is a photo dump of what I’ve been working on. Mostly upstairs bathroom and starting on sanding the floors. Still have a bit to go, but back...

Found new use for old immersion chiller

Oh definitely, but that didn’t start with this project.

Found new use for old immersion chiller

The test batch worked well enough that we decided to class it up a little. Going to finish it off with either fence boards or old corrugated galvanized panels wrapped around and a lid to match. Hoping to get some good use out of it over the weekend. Will update if I ever finish it.

Found new use for old immersion chiller

Hot tub, yes. Hillbilly, probably. Or as my wife sometimes says, “we are high class white trash.”

Found new use for old immersion chiller

Just me sitting in the galvanized tank drinking beverages, otherwise no home brew was harmed with this science project.

Found new use for old immersion chiller

Small stock tank, little 12v wort pump, immersion chiller and a fire. Working better than I hoped for. Cheers.

Need ideas for automating gas engine water pump

Wow thank you for the quick response! If I am understanding correctly. Wire a timer maybe something like this, JVR 12V Timer Switch Programmable Digital 12 Volt DC/AC/Solar Battery Powered - - Amazon.com (first thing to come up) between the battery and the ignition. And then wire a relay like...

Need ideas for automating gas engine water pump

This isn’t brewing related, but I thought maybe I’d do some collective brainstorming or that somebody would have a great easy solution. My basic end goal is this. Have a gas powered water pump that will turn on using a timer. I have found a small pump that has an electric start Pacer...

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

We do a very simple recipe if you are set up to pressure can. We like it because it is basically our fresh salsa recipe but then pressure canned, so no peeling the tomatoes first and not a lot of added vinegar like most of the water bath recipes. If you’d like I can dig up our basic recipe and...
