I got a kit of the month club as a gift. This months kit is an "Aussie light ale". Seems kinda blah and I want to pep it up a bit. I may steep some Clementines in a 1/2 gallon of water and add it but was also curious what corn sugAr will contribute? Is it just to boost ABV?
The kit is :

I'll probably make a starter Thursday. This is my 3rd issue with Midwest and I'd rather not call them again. Kit of the month club was a cool gift from SWMBO but as soon as I get the last one I'll be dealing exclusively with Northern Brewer or my LHBS. Thanks for the info guys!
Just got a kit delivered from Midwest supply and the package was partially crushed and the smack pack has been activated. Any ideas on how long I can wait to pitch the yeast after it's been activated? The package hasn't swelled completely so I'm guessing it happened recently?

Second year Cascade, Willamette and Mt Hood are just starting to take off due to a chilly spring in the northeast.
First year Sterling and 6 more Cascade just went in the ground last week. Regretting not starting them in pots.
Got em cut back to 3 strong bines. The bine itself seems way thicker than they were the first year. Do you grow all three bines up the same string or should they each have their own?
I have 2nd year cascade, Willamette and Mt. hood. Each plant has 6-10 bines poking out the longest being maybe 5-6inches long. How long does everyone generally let the bines grow before cutting them back to the 3 or 4 strongest bines?

Pretty stoked today! Easter Sunday was our first holiday we drank strictly homebrew! The entire family loved everything! Wit, Lime Hefe, ordinary bitter and American Amber.

Slim has a recipe that's the best I've ever had! It's a lemon lime Hefe. The Sorachi and Mouteka hops are tricky to hunt down sometimes but so worth it! Not sure if it's taboo on HBT to copy and paste someone else's recipe so I won't. It's an easy find if you search lemon lime hefewiezen in the...
Well... If nothing else this has been a fun post.
Turns out it was pulp. Not sure why I didn't think about it until someone mentioned the orange. I just opened the top and panicked!

I'm brewing a California common kit this Saturday. If I make a 150ml starter should I keep the starter at the low end of the ale scale? 60 degrees?

I recently asked the same question in a different thread. One hard drive magnet seemed to be the most frequent answer I got. It worked well for me.

Depends if SWMBO is assisting on said day. If she is it's Jack Johnson, Dave Mathews, John Mayer. If not it's a strict diet of Primus, 311, and Rage Against the Machine! I enjoy both so no biggie
