Question about the addition of water after the boil

I've seen his recipes and tried a few of his beers, hop-wise almost non-existent in any parameter compared to what is called for in his recipes. They are also WAY over carbonated. I directed him here for good info. I don't think he took the advice.

Question about the addition of water after the boil

I have a brewing acquaintance who claims he does AG brewing. I come to find out, that he uses a stove-top to boil a couple of gallons (doesn't have a more powerfull burner and doesn't use a wort chiller) like doing a partial mash and then adds water to the wort after the boil. I told him that...

    BeerSmith "BrewSheet"

BrewSmith worked fine for me for over a year then this week when putting together a brew for the weekend, The "Brewrsheet Preview" stopped working. It will not come up from the drop-down menus either. All I get is a white screen and the sheet itself never comes up. I can't even cut and...

    S-04 Yeast first time

Anyone experience slow start-ups with the S-04 yeast? I brewed a 10g yesterday and split the fermenters: one with S_05 and one with S-04. The S-05 was off and running last night (as usual) while the 04 still shows no sign of life. Going to wait, but just curious.

What is wrong with these people?

In most parts of the US streets are owned by "the people" and in the absence of local ordinance that may restrict parking, they can park where they wish as long as they are parked on the street.

    wort chiller necessary?

This BTW works really well for me. I bought a cheap submersible pump from Harbor Freight. I like the idea too because you use much less water and if you plan ahead and make your own ice for the pump reservoir, you don't pay for the big bag of ice. The pump I bought is also ok for use in salt...
