I have been getting my CO2 from Praxair out on Benner Pike across from U-Haul. I also heard that Best Event sells CO2 at $2.85/lb. I think Praxair is cheaper. Welcome aboard!

    Suggestions on training

Yes, you can repot them but the plants should have a good root ball. You don't want the root ball to fall apart when you transplant. Not sure if you have enough root growth to transplant yet.

Double IPA Dogfish Head 90 Minute Clone

The burning sensation in the nose if from CO2, the by product of the yeast. How do I know???? I stuck my head in a keezer that had a CO2 leak that emptied a 40 lbs tank. It is an experience when you dip your head in the keezer and you can't even take a breath through your nose.

    Need a better wort chiller

I moved inside for the next brew. The wasn't boil was a lot more consistent and was able to keep the boil going. So, I blame it on the wind. The first chiller I used was a 3/8" by 50 feet and it was really slow. I did not time it but it sure took a long time. I used a different chiller on...

    Chocolate Scortch Ale

When I started brewing I would put my carboy in the shower (fermentation shower). They would heat up and produce a really violent fermentation because of the higher internal temperatures. I used a 1" blow off tube into a mason jar and when I noticed the heat rising I would pack the carboy with...

Need Help in the middle of my boil!!

Open it when you are ready to pitch. I suspect the yeast nutrients were released and the yeast is munching on it. You should be able to pitch with no problems.

Pennsylvania Selling Everything - Blichmann Boilermaker, Chiller, CP Bottle Filler, Pump, etc.

I sure could use that Blichmann, except SWMBO has said NO! (I must show that the cost of propane justifies the purchase.)

    Need a better wort chiller

I used to live in Michigan, cold weather and water. I like the big beers and I am concerned about hops clogging the chiller. Are hops an issue with the plate chiller?

    Need a better wort chiller

I want to do all gravity! I like the idea of a plate chiller. Which one do you use? I went the copper tubing coils because they were cheaper and didn't think you could use them in a gravity system. Tell me more.

    Need a better wort chiller

I stir to increase thermal conductivity. Living in PA this winter and the water was always cold. Not sure what the temp is now, I will have to test it the next time I brew.

Is your chiller 3/8 or 1/2? Thanks

    Need a better wort chiller

I've been doing 5 gallon batches in a Blichmann Boilermaker. The burner and Boilermaker are very efficient at heating up the wort. I used two 25' coils for cooling the wort and it took only 10 minutes to chill from 212 F to 64 F. I have just finished my first 10 gallon batch in a keggle. I...
