    First bottle bomb: Lesson learned?

I believe what you are describing is a gusher. A bottle bomb actually involves broken glass.

Imperial Stout Respect Imperial Stout (Extract)

About how long does this take to carb? I used about 4oz of priming sugar and was planning on having 1 bottle once a month to check progress.

Just bought my first Chimay blue

Wait I just double checked, and it was $11.99 for the big bottle, the 4 pack was 20. I thought that sounded off when I typed it.

Just bought my first Chimay blue

Yeah it is the big bottle w/cork. $19.99 at total wine, kind of an impulse buy. Once I got it home I (of course) searched the internets and found out its bottle carbonated. Its funny that some sites call it "fermented a second time in the bottle". My main concern is pouring it into a glass...

Just bought my first Chimay blue

I did not realize it was bottle carbed like homebrew. Should I pour it all at once like any homebrew or can I do 2 pours?

    Nimbus Old Monkey Shine Clone??

Hey I live in Tucson and I just recently discovered monkeyshine at albertsons. What I can not believe is that its 7.49 a sixer and that's regular price, not sale price. That cant be right since the pale ale is 9.99. LOVE this stuff.

    What are you drinking now?

Old Monkeyshine from Nimbus. 8.2% abv, really smooth malty and sweet. Plus I live about 10 minutes from the brewery.

What's the most expensive beer you've seen or drank?

The most expensive I have had was Dogfish Head 120 minute Ipa. 20 bucks for a 12oz bottle. It was totally worth it.

Bottling beer in wine bottles - has anybody tried it?

Yes please if you have to use a big bottle, use a champagne bottle. Look at the bottom of a wine bottle and the bottom on a champagne bottle. The former is usually flat, the latter is concave in order to help contain the pressure of carbonation.

    first big beer

So I just brewed my first big beer yesterday, an imperial stout. It's a 5 gallon batch in a 6.5 gallon bucket. Well I came home today and saw that the krausen is flowing out of the airlock. I should have used a blowoff tube in hindsight. My real concern is how much volume am I going to...

    What You Wear While Brewing

I just lol'ed. Brewed today in shorts and no shoes.

    Doh!

I would try using a cork screw to dig into it and pull it out rather than pushing it all the way in and risk contanimation. Also handling a glass Carboy like he is handling the wine bottle seems a bit risky. Either way keep us updated as to the outcome.

So what exactly is your glassware of choice?

I like to use my 25oz "big drankin mug". Can fit two twelve oz bottles in it for less trips to the fridge.

Don't feel too bad about gushers...

I recently purchased a sixer of Sam Adams and each one gushed. Even the pros can make mistakes.

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

I'm not an engineer. I'm an undereducated worker straddling the line between lower-middle class and upper-lowerclass. Still like to drink excellent beer though.
