    Recipe question

ok. After fixing that faux pas, here's what I've corrected to get about where I want to be. Again, I've only done a couple recipes on my own, and this is my first IPA. Let me know what you think of the recipe. 5 gal batch american IPA 12 lbs - Pale malt (2 row) (20 SRM) 1 lbs 4 oz -...

    Recipe question

Thanks guys. This is for a 5 gallon batch which is why it seemed like such a low OG for that much grain. I have a 10 gallon tun (Orange water cooler). Would sugar kill the mouth feel of it?

    Recipe question

This is probably the third recipe I've done all on my own and I'm having some problems. I would like to make an American IPA, and I feel I've got a pretty good recipe going, but Beersmith says that my OG and ABV will be low for the style. Here's what I've plugged in so far: Pale malt (2 row)...

    Red ale critique

I'm just going off Beersmith, but the color was spot on for this one. Will the 300L give it stout body? Sent from my iPhone using Home Bre

I had planned on 90 minute. What will 120 minute do for me and how would I adjust my hop schedule? Sent from my iPhone using Home Bre

    English Barleywine critique

Going for 5 gallons. Recipe as it stands will have an OG of 1.100 according to beersmith. I debated on more caramel. Maybe I'll toss the 2 row and up the Carmel to 2 pounds. Sent from my iPhone using Home Bre

    English Barleywine critique

    Butterbeer (yes, of HP fame)

Turned out great!! I would definitely recommend this recipe to anyone making a butterbeer "clone". I thought the 1 cup of butterscotch would be overwhelming but it was very mellow. I had one if these and an A&W cream soda back to back and could barely tell the difference. The butterscotch I used...

    Butterbeer (yes, of HP fame)

We are having a HP theme birthday party for my step-daughter and SWMBO wanted me to make an "adult" version of butterbeer. Here's my recipe: -7 lbs 2-row pale -.75 lbs honey malt -.25 lbs biscuit malt -1 oz cluster hops @ 60 minutes -us-05 yeast -150 degrees for 60 minutes -mashout 170 degrees...

    Fermentation chamber question

I was mostly just wondering if it would get too cold since it's a freezer. I know the STC will flip between heat and cool, but was unsure how cold it would take it. Sent from my iPhone using Home Bre

    Fermentation chamber question

I have a fermentation chamber that I built at the end of the fall and it has worked great. Being in the winter, and being that I keep it in my brew room located in my garage, I did not really have a need to have anything to cool down the cooler, and the fermwrap I have in there worked great. Now...

    Carbed but no head

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping time will make it better. If not I'm not going to worry too much about my process as this was my last extract brew (for now anyway).
