    LowRYEder Clone help

Anyone have ingredients or instructions for a extract brew. This stuff is awesome btw. This is from their website. No idea how to translate it though. ""A flame throwin’ Rye IPA ignited by a 25% shot of rye malt and capped by a booty hoppin’ blast of Mt Hood and Centennial hops...

    I'm not crazy.......right?

Thanks everyone! On a side note, if I was stupid and only brewed and bottled a pumpkin spice porter today, will it last until next fall with the standard Brewer's Best bottle caps?

    I'm not crazy.......right?

I did my second Brewer's Best kit and bottled today. I understand that you generally lose some beer when siphoning before and after fermentation. Both times though it has been about 6-8 bottles short of their stated "53 12 oz bottles" on the side of the box. Am I making a big deal out of...

    Quick Star San Question

The vast majority will say it is fine. I even got some in my mouth and although it tasted terrible, it didn't do anything. Just wash it off quickly.

    Save me

+1 on that idea. Got home today. Cleaned it all up with hot soapy water. Cleaned out the airlock and put it back on. Waited about 5 mins and only saw about 2 bubbles, so it seems like the ferm in calming down. Went to Home Depot and bought a short trash can for about $12. Drilled some...

    Save me

If the pressure is still trying to escape through the narrow airlock tube, through the 1/2" tube and into the bucket, is it really that much more efficient at releasing pressure?

    Save me

Got antsy Sunday night and brewed up a nice Pumpkin spice kit. Put it in the carboy in a closet under the stairs. I'm out of town this week, but my wife informed me that the cap came off and it exploded everywhere. Walls, carpet, all the stuff that is in the closet. Any advice on how to...

    ut oh

Brewed a pumpkin and put it in the carboy with a 3 stage airlock. Put it in a closet and came back a day later. It had exploded everywhere. Re-sanitized and re-capped. It exploded again. Any hints? Also, how do you clean that wasted gold off the walls? It took a couple hours for me to...

    Priming question

I got a Brewer's best kit (5 gallon batch) and started brewing. I lost some of the wort during transfer to the carboy and then lost even more moving it into my bottling bucket. I added in the priming sugar mix and then the wort on top of that. When the mix was complete is was about 3.5 - 4...

    aeration question

Thanks guys. Can't wait to bottle my first brew at the end of the weekend. I still have to drink my way to enough bottles first though, so cheers! Stoudts American Pale Ale.

    aeration question

If I put a sanitized muslin bag and rubber band on the end of my auto-siphon when moving the wort from the carboy to the bottling bucket to avoid bringing debris, do I risk the muslin bag aerating the brew? I wouldn't think so since it's all submerged, but wanted to check. Thanks!

Does anyone use anything to cover your carboys during fermentation

Best place I have to store mine is on carpet, so I put a towel town and then cover the carboy with the excess towel.

    Hello

First Post. Brand new to home brewing. College roommate got me into it, so I grabbed a starter kit from my LHBS and a English Brown kit and went to town. So far I think I'm doing well. It's in a windowless closet a week into primary. Had a very active first 72 hours and has died down...
