any good brewery tours near Anaheim CA?

Heating up coolant lines to bend?

I am in the same boat, lines built in to the shelves, havent tried it yet tho. I would suggest using cutters to get the shelf wires away from the tubes and getting a small tubing bender in there. Just a single peice hand one that helps the tubing hold its shape, has a U groove the tubing goes in

    SWMBO vs. Homebrew

My wife pretty much allows me to do most anything as long as: I dont ignore her The bills are still paid Stuff around the house is fixed Most importantly, I clean up. She hates "clutter" more than anything. Seriously though, I dated a chick once that would get pissed off at me for...

    Black IPA

I used midnight wheat for the color in mine, similar to Carafa III for color. I believe some flavor from dark grains is appropriate for a black IPA.

Trying to figure out how many BTUs I'm gonna need...

I dont do 10 gallon batches but, 1 BTU raises 1 lb of water 1o f. Burners are usually rated BTU per hour. Raise 10 gallons, say 85 lbs-ish of wort from say 68 to 212 in an hour is about (85x(212-68))= 12240 BTU, if all the heat from the burner transfers to the wort. It wont, some will go to air...

First Beer related purchase upon winning the lottery

Maybe open a homebrew store. And a brewery in back. My whole goal would be to make good beer, and then help others recreate it if they wanted.

Roasting grains using a coffee roaster.

I cant help with the specific roaster, but you can still make crystal grains even with a base malt. Just need to soak whole grains in water first, dont know specific time though. A day-ish I think.

    Roosters Brewery in Ogden, UT

Ya the laws here dont allow beer over 3.2 on tap but its ok in bottles, or something like that. Epic hasnt been able to make high alcohol beer for very long, but breweries here are getting lots better very quickly. Hop Rising isnt bad at all.

    Molasses as priming sugar?

A cup should do a reasonable job for 5 gallons, but it is hard to get an exact equivalent to sugar, depends on brand, type, etc.

Cascade and Columbus together are suppose to be like Centennial I think? I have Columbus and Simcoe in my first IPA kegged just a couple days ago, not too bad.
