    Martinellis Hard Cider?

Has anyone ever made a cider that tasted similar to Martinellis sparkling cider? I would like to make something similar to that but perhaps a little dryer. Any suggestions or recipes? Thanks for the help.

I loves my new SS braided mash tun!

So today I made two 10 gallon batches. One batch of ESB and one of American Amber. I hit my numbers right on the mark and tried my new mash tun for the second time. The first time I used the mash tun the SS braid fell off of the dip tube and I ended up having to transfer the whole mash over...

    Who's Been to NHC Before?

I'm all set. I've got the hotel booked and I'm getting ready to register but I've got a question for those of you that have gone before. Is it better to do the full registration or to go the cheaper route and then pick and choose the topics that you have an interest in? What's the best way to...

    SLC brewpubs?

I've gotta go to Salt Lake City on Sunday for work and I'm looking for any decent pubs to go to. Also, do they serve alcohol on Sunday? I'll only be there overnight but would like a place to get a couple of good beers. Thanks for the help. Cheers

    Conserving Water?

I'm trying to come up with a way to cut down on the amount of water that I use for cooling. Right now I use a CF chiller and the amount of water that I go through is pretty amazing. I generally will fill up a standard size trash can and then will continue to water the lawn and the plants...

    Dfh 120 Wtf!?!!!

O.k. so after finally getting my hands on some DFH 120 (my buddy brought some back from Oregon) I have to say that I am thouroughly dissapointed. It is probably one of the worst beers i have ever had. Let me qualify this by saying that I love big strong, malty beers. I love big strong...

    Back in the saddle!!!

I finally had a chance to brew today. It's been a few months since i've been able to do it and it felt great to get back in the groove. The brewday went off without any major hitches, although I did have a minor boilover. I nailed my gravity on my IPA and came in over the mark on my Brown but...

    38DD wiring

For those of you who have built the 38DD chiller, how did you wire up the 12vac-dc adapter to the digital thermostat. I have a 12vdc fan and a rite temp thermostat. Does anyone have basic electircal advice? Thanks

    Campden and Chlorine

I was just reading the "Brewing Classic Styles", Zainasheff/Palmer book and they have a paragraph in there about using Campden tablets to clear your water of chlorine. I had never heard of this and wonder if any of you have heard of it and are doing it? If so, are you getting good results...

    Nhc 2008

I'm sure there is a thread here somewhere for this but I couldn't find it in the quick search that I did. So I'll ask anyway. Who sent in entries to the NHC this year? I just sent in my Stovepipe Stout, I know....only one entry, but it's all I had ready to go. I entered it in the Dry...

I need some control, Damn It!

I'll never brew another Belgian. Until I get some temperature control that is. I've tried a handful of times to use belgian yeast and each time I have ended up with less than desirable results. But no more! I will gain control over my yeast through the use of proper temperature control...

    Growlers

Aside from the local brewery, where's a good, cheap supplier of growlers? Anyone have a connection? Cheers

    I'm on vacation!

On vacation for three weeks and brewing on Tuesday. I'm making a stout and an IPA. The stout is my own creation (1st brewing of this recipe) and the IPA is a tweak of Edwort's Stone IPA. I've made the Stone clone before and it turned out great. The grain bill for the IPA is the same as...

    Brewing podcasts

Are there any podcasts that are worth listening to? I know that there are some out there I just don't want anything too basic. Anybody have some that they can suggest? Cheers

    Piraat Clone

I am looking for a clone recipe for Piraat. Has anyone done one that came close? My friends and I love that beer and I think it would be fun to try to match it. Thanks for the help. Cheers

    First shot at batch sparging

I have always been a fly sparger and I have been happy with the results. I consistently achieve 75% efficiency, I am comfortable with my system, and I never had a reason to switch the way that I do things. But, lately I have been curious about the time saving aspects of batch sparging...

Singing the praises of Edwort's Stone IPA

I made it, I drank it, and I love it. The best IPA I've ever made, fantastic and very close to the original. Thanks Edwort, I guess I'll have to try your Haus Pale Ale now. Cheers

    Try this brew!

I have always wanted to make an oktoberfest but I only brew ales (for now). So, I decided to make an Oktoberfest Ale, really it is more of an Alt but I like to call it my Oktoberfest. It turned out really well and I thought that I would share it with you all. If anyone tries it, let me know...

    London Ale Yeast

Howdy folks, I have been using the white labs yeasts exclusively for the past few years with mostly good results. Although, I have now had to seperate batches go south on me when I have used the London Ale yeast. Has anyone else had any problems with that strain? Just curious, thanks...

Cheers From SLO Town in CA

Well, I have been brewing off and on over the last decade and finally got somewhat serious a few years ago. I make all-grain beers on a ten gallon gravity system that was a diy project and most of my brews get kegged with an occasional bottling (usually around the holidays). I love all...
