    Kegco K309

I haven't actually tried turning it up... just did it now and it goes up to 75F. The only difference between K309B and K309SS is the outside finish, B is the black cabinet, SS is the stainless steel cabinet, other than that all 309's should be the same equipment other than tower options. On a...

The temp reset isn't really an issue unless you're using it for a ferm chamber with temps 55-70F. The drop in temp would almost certainly stall fermentation. I guess if that's what you were using it for you could put it on a UPS.

That is interesting. I know it's getting reset, it's happened multiple times in the year or so I've had it. I wonder if it matters how long the power is out. They may be using a capacitor to power dynamic memory which would eventually drain if the power's off long enough. I should try...

    I'm the OP, I have the K309B.

    Kegco K309

The only thing that bugs me is that the digital display thermostat resets to 5C every time the power goes out. I have to switch it back to F and dial it down a few degrees. That would not be a good thing if you were trying to ferment in it and the power went out while you were gone. I don't...

    Kegco K309

I gave away probably 2/3rds of my bottle collection. I wish I was brave enough to ditch all my bottling stuff, especially the bottle tree, but I know I'll still have to do some bottling for gifts or wine. But now that I have my K309 probably 90% of what I do will be kegged. Sooo much nicer than...

    Kegco K309

If you don't want to significantly lower your ABV, concentrate would be a good way to go, just make sure you mix it in really good if it's frozen when you add it. Also, make sure you get it chilling ASAP, you don't want to ferment in your keg. My straight hard cider was 6.7%. I just split my...

    Kegco K309

No problem. A few other things... I just went with the default 5ft lines and live at 4500ft elevation. I noticed others said they had to change out to 10ft lines to fix foaming issues which seems like a lot of hose to stuff in there. You have to be careful that your liquid lines don't end up...

    Kegco K309

5 months and 6 kegs later and it's working great. Only issue I've had was when I first set it up the fan was causing a vibration to amplify thru the fridge loud enough that it drove me nuts. I took the fan off and put some rubber washers on the screws and only partially screwed it back on and...

    Danby DAR125SLDD Kegerator Build

Ya, that's a common issue I've seen on these conversion threads. Regular fridge t-stats use a wider temp differential like around +/-5F. That's one of the reasons I went with the Kegco pre-built with built in digital t-stat. Pretty sure the homebrew t-stats use a much tighter differential...

    Back Sweetening Cider Keg

Ok, that is making sense now. I've been searching info on it and you're right, usually you would add sulfite and sorbate together for a still wine and only after the wine has completely cleared. Funny thing is, I think I actually have a bottle of Potassium Sorbate I bought years ago and never...

    Back Sweetening Cider Keg

Potassium metabisulfite does kill "wild" yeasts and bacteria and is also an antioxidant. I actually used it to treat the freshly pressed cider for 24 hours before pitching my own cider yeast. I guess from reading a little more on it now, it appears most beer and wine or cider yeasts are more...

    Back Sweetening Cider Keg

So, I'm new to kegging, but loving it a lot after 7 years of bottling. Just kicked my second keg of hard cider last night. I have a 3gal carboy of cider that I want to mix with a couple gallons of grape juice to make a lower alcohol wine cooler for my wife. Cider is 7.6%, mix 3:2 should put it...

    Kegco K309

Just ordered this unit the other day. Went with the SS tower with two perlick taps. I've been reading lots of good things. I almost decided to hack a Danby fridge instead, but after lots of research and pricing things out I decided to fork out a few hundred more for a ready to go system that has...

    Danby DAR125SLDD Kegerator Build

Not really out of luck, I could always buy the three tap tower later and sell the two tap version on ebay if I decide I want to... Swapping them out shouldn't be that difficult either, they even show the tower removed when you want to use it as a regular refrigerator. I'm guessing they might...

    Danby DAR125SLDD Kegerator Build

I am a spoiled boy! My wife just ordered the 309B-2 ($790 shipped). Dual tap, built in digital thermostat and circulating fan. Can easily fit 3 pin locks or full size keg with some room to spare. Has some stellar reviews, very excited! :ban::mug::rockin::tank::rockin::mug::ban...

I'm torn though, I like working on stuff and building my own things, but my wife actually came home and said she decided I could buy the $1000 setup from Kegco that I was looking at and just consider it my birthday/Christmas present. I had just paid $360 for the two keg kits off ebay though so I...

So, I just purchased two pin lock keg kits and started researching what currently available mini fridges will fit two pin locks. Got excited when I found this thread since everyone else recommends the 440BL which seems to not be available anywhere now. Then I was bummed when the OP stated that...

    Filtering Losses

I never filter anything. With enough patience and using the proper techniques (don't do anything to stir up the cake on the bottom), I end up with very clear wine & beer with little or no sediment fallout in the bottle. Only volume I lose is what gets left over from my auto siphon. No cleared...

    Questions about shipping homebrew...

Well I just so happen to have a bunch of bubble wrap and I like the garbage bag idea to keep it from leaking if one breaks. All my "yeast samples" will be shipped within my state and should only take 1-2 days to deliver via UPS. Thank you so much for your feedback, it's much appreciated!!
