    Your Diet, Health, and ...Beer

Been enjoying these responses - I'll try only drinking Vodka for the next 3 weeks and then report back, seems like the least effort to implement. Seriously, I think building your health has a lot of similarities to improving your beer. You start with the basics, which I'll summarize as...

    Your Diet, Health, and ...Beer

I'd just like to hear some opinions of other beer lovers on how you all deal with the health effects of beer. Mainly I've been focusing on diet lately. Like many a human before me, as I aged I found diet affecting my energy levels and moods more and more. In an effort to avoid the worst...

    How BEER Saved the WORLD

Ok, I get throat / ear / nose infections and have to quit drinking for a while and take antiboitics. HOW do I make my beer to have tetrycyclene in it?

Imperial Stout Rapture Russian Imperial Stout

I see the original batch was at 1.030 after 1 month. Was this the final numbers? I brewed this 5 weeks ago and I'm at 1.030 which I thought was too high still, till I came back to this thread. Anyway just curious if after the 4 months of aging if it crept down on you. I did just throw a pack...

Atlanta - purchasing 50lb grain sacks?

Update: Just in case anyone in Atlanta finds this thread: I stopped by brewmaster warehouse in Marietta Today 2/12/2013. A 50 lb bag of Breiss 2-row is $55 + tax. They have imports also, didn't really look at them too much, I asked if the Breiss was the cheapest they had: it is. So about...

Curse of 1.030; choices, course of action

Thanks, I found this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/psa-foolproof-stuck-ferment-fixer-72072/ Thinking about transferring onto a yeast cake of a 1.048 pale ale I brewed last weekend.

Curse of 1.030; choices, course of action

I have a strong Belgian ale type, I can't quite call it a Quad, but it was an attempt on my travels to learn the crafting of Quads. I brewed it 2 months ago and transferred to the secondary at 3 weeks. Fermentables: 70% 2row 8% Dried Malt extract 12% Candi Syrup 10% Special B WLP500...

    Propane for Brewing

Sorry not from Tampa but make sure you check the pounds of propane you are buying. Some places sell 16 lbs and others sell 20 lbs - not a nice trick on the 16 lb people. Suburban Cylinder exchange delivers to your door in the Atlanta area. For natural gas I highly recommend the G4 burner...

Atlanta - purchasing 50lb grain sacks?

Question: How does one economically purchase a 50lb bag of base malt grains in Atlanta? I'm not super picky about what type / brand. I've been using rahr or breiss 2-row and purchasing from Northern Brewer or Adventures in Homebrewing online: they have great pricing but after $20 of...

Im pissed my kegged beer is foamy

I second that it isn't your regulator - highly improbable unless you remember banging the hell out of it recently. Try increasing your liquid line to 12 feet of 3/16" ID. Keeping your pint glass in the freezer also helps reduce C02 escaping solution when it hits your glass.

Am I the only one :0)

Walked down to my basement last evening with my 2 & 4 yr old to check on the beer and showed them those bubbles. I find if I keep myself extra busy I can cut down to 2 visits a day just to stare at the fermentors. Trying to cut back you know?

    Why I Love Dry Yeast

I have 3 kids ages 0 to 4 and yeast starters are not my thing either! Brew day is always a go the week before and then iffy the day before and then 50/50 chance day of. I like the tip of starting at 10:00 PM - I could probably be going by 8:30 its just too exhausting to begin that late...

    citra ipa recipe critique...

Good call on limiting the crystal malt. I'm heading this way myself. I used 4 lbs crystal 40 in my last 10 gallon IPA batch - and it came out way too dark. I'm curious though as to the .25 lb of crystal 10l - is that even noticeable at all? What's the intent with so little of so light a...

    1.030 FG curse

Thanks for all the tips, I'm having this same problem. Its a chocolate milk stout (northern brewer recipe w/ 2 extra pounds of grain) mash 1 hr at 152; OG of 1.062 and its now at 1.030. One 5 gallon bucket has safale 04 and the other bucket has Wyeast 1332 for a side by side comparison - no...
