    When to rack to secondary

This was the most helpful response. Thank you! Once fermentation is complete in a few weeks, I'll follow your steps above and add it all to the secondary! I appreciate your advice.

    When to rack to secondary

I am brewing a 5 gallon malt extract whiskey barrel stout. I brewed this yesterday and it's in the primary fermenter now (6.5 gallon bucket) the original gravity read at 1.063. The recipe calls for adding the whiskey barrel oak chips when racking to the secondary. 1. When is the right time to...

How long should I use my secondary fementer

Yes I did a gravity reading when I transferred to the secondary and it was 1.022. I had read that's long as its dropped 66%-75% it's okay to rack. Is that incorrect?

How long should I use my secondary fementer

The recipes final gravity calls for 1.016-1.019. I keep reading longer doesn't hurt but do you think this weekend (total of 5 weeks) is long enough?

How long should I use my secondary fementer

Am brewing a Malt Extract Imperial Nut Brown Ale. I brewed this on 9/2/12 and racked it to my secondary fermenter on 9/8/12. The OG was 1.074 and the final should be roughly 1.017. I've read that the higher the OG the longer the conditioning time the better the outcome. I was thinking about...

    Refrigeration is lowering my carbonation

The beer taste good but I want to figure out how to chill the beer without losing carbonation. I plan to keep conditioning but really don't understand why cooling it at this point is losing almost all carbonation. While the carbonation to the unchilled beer is awesome.

    Refrigeration is lowering my carbonation

I bottled my first batch an American pale ale 7 days ago. I wanted to see how the conditioning was going so I opened one today and had beautiful carbonation. So I put a couple in the fridge to taste it refrigerated and when I opened it it had almost zero carbonation. So I opened another one that...
