    Hop Lord

UPDATE: I brewed the Extract version of this beer almost a year ago. It took nearly 3 months to bottle carb (almost paniced). My ABV came in at 9.xx%. I have been extremely pleased with it. Definitely one that I will consider doing again.

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely try to remember to let you know the gravities that I get. I'm not sure when I'll brew this one. I'm waiting on it to come in. Thanks again for the feedback.

I just ordered this IPA extract kit from Midwest Supplies along with a yeast starter kit as well. Can't wait till it all comes in. This will be my first yeast starter brew and first 2 stage fermentation with some dry hoping. Not real sure how much starter I need to mix it up? Any tips for a 5...

Mines been nearly a year in the bottle. It has mellowed, still a bit much spice for my liking. Just not a fan of those one personally. Others have said they like it. I give it to them.

    Brewers Best Kits

I wasn't impressed with this one. Too much spice for my liking. I would consider using less of the spice pack as others have stated.

    Carbonation Question

I always try one at a week. Mine have all been pretty carbed at the 1 week mark. It's your beer do as you please. The more you drink now the less you have down the road. Another good reason to make more now.

Any way to save my beer ?

As far as water with all the BB kits that I have done, my boil has been 2.5 gal then cool the wort then top off to 5 gal with spring water. I have hit OG and FG every time.

Any way to save my beer ?

It will mellow with time. I tried two yesterday that have been in the bottle for 4 weeks. Much better at 4 weeks. Did you hit your OG and FG?

Any way to save my beer ?

Did you by chance do the Brewers Best kit? If so, the spices are strong and mellow with time. I have only tried one at one week of bottle conditioning to see if it was carbing, it was. I decided that I would let just sit for about another month before trying it again. I did a search after I...

I have been toying with kegging so, thanks for this thread. I am not quite there yet. I need to work a fridge. Then may move on to one or two kegs. BlackRock, what kind of fridge is that? Size wise?

    Secondary question-Necessary?

I would say yes you can leave it and add the wood chips. You should steam (sanitize) the wood chips before adding though. I think that I have read about that on here. Good Luck!

    First brew success!!

Awesome! Congrats from a fellow noob. I like you listened to the many on here that have preached the practice of waiting and relaxing. Enjoy and pay attention to each week as you taste to the effects of time and age on your brew and write it down. It's your brew, brew what you want. Just...

    just starting out..

Also a Noob here. Reading and knowing your recipe and plan/sequence for your brew day helps. Have it right in front of you so that you can refer to it all along the way. Laying out everything and making sure all is sanitized and that you have everything. Most of all enjoy and know that it...

    Spiced Pumpkin Porter

I just bought another Ale Pale, etc and now I can have two primary's going. I have read on here that the BB Pumpkin Spice Porter's spice pack is a bit much.
