    Im back..finally got a kit

Well she did buy the kit with full intentions if me making beer for her lol. She likes just about everything aside from super hoppy IPAs. Anything Belgian she really likes. She also likes Oktoberfests which honestly aren't my favorite. There is a place I want to check out that has clinics...

    Im back..finally got a kit

Oh I have plenty of bottles, I save almost all of my craft brew bottles so that's not a problem. I wanted to keg though because its easier and faster. Yeah it costs more in the beginning but once the initial cost is covered I don't think its too bad. I still may bottle to first few batches...

Should I go with online shop? Or local shop?

See I'm all about supporting locals as long as the prices are reasonably competitive. I understand they have to keep the lights on and all that, but it has to be within reason.

Should I go with online shop? Or local shop?

Around here for starter kits at least that's not what I'm seeing. All the places I've been to have the BB kits, starter is like 70ish and the next one up is around a hundred. Online they're about the same price, throw shipping in on top of that and Im well over what I can get it for locally...

Beer without body / watery beer

Yeah, Ill be using extract kits at the beginning, until I decide I want to experiment with different malts and things like that. I'm going to do some brews mostly to get the process down and then maybe start tweaking some stuff. So Im wondering if maybe its just a case of rushing the beer...

Beer without body / watery beer

So as I begin to think about starting out doing this I think about some of the other home brews I've had. Over the years I've had homebrews from people at different times and sometimes I felt that although the taste was there, the beer lacked body and/or tasted kinda watered down. Heck I've...

    Beginning Brewing on a budget

Ahhh, yeah I think I've seen those. I guess when I first looked at swamp coolers I must have stumbled on to someones elaborate rig, because it seemed like a hassle and kind of expensive. More like what someone would think an "actual" swamp cooler was, the evaporative air thing. Now I look...

I was at the store recently and it was between that and a sixer of Undercover Shutdown, hadn't tried either, I got the undercover shutdown. Looks like my next sixer will be some Lil Sumpin

    Beginning Brewing on a budget

It may be, Ill start looking for a cheap fridge at some point soon. Someone at the homebrew meeting made a great suggestion just brew a saison lol. I may give it a go since I do like them, just not too funky. Now again a noob question/observation but a fermentation chamber can be as simple...

    I need Founders!!!!

When they're in season, especially the Breakfast stout, they relatively easy to get. So I see no reasons why it would be an issue for someone to trade, just right now it may be a bit tough. Breakfast stout is supposed to be coming on Sep 4th though. Also your in the Springs....try Rocky...

    I need Founders!!!!

Dirtys year round, but Backwoods is long gone and Breakfast stout wont be back until September. That is unless people are pulling from their cellar.

    Clone Brews.

I think they definitely have a place for practice purposes, especially for new brewers. That way there is at least an expectation of how a beer should taste and some clear instructions on how to make it taste that way.

    Beginning Brewing on a budget

Yeah I'm sure I will, I'm kinda like that with everything. I'm still going to try to start out small though. I think my biggest problem will be temperature control while fermenting. I dont have a basement and I try to not run my AC a ton. So my house, on a really hot day, can reach 80+ no...

    Hi from Michigan

True I could do that, didn't think of that, Ill probably do that until I can get the money up to get something better. There is a place in warren that seems to have some hotel liquidation stuff. They have some beverage coolers for 50 bucks, Id have to go look at them because Im betting they...

    Hi from Michigan

The temperature thing was actually one thing I was concerned about. I don't have a basement, so cellaring isn't possible. If I keep the AC in the house high, which I do when I'm not there, the house can hit 80 degrees. I may have to get a beer fridge which was an expense that was also keeping me...

    Hi from Michigan

The one at kuhnhenns, I was talking to a bunch of the guys on Saturday there and they said I should come and check it out. I've been to a couple, but just kinda looking around getting feel for things. Is hopmans in Waterford? I've been to that one and the one right across from kuhnhenns...
