I sat down and bottled 15 gallons of beer today. 5 Gallons of cream ale 5 Gallons of pumpkin spice dark ale 5 Gallons of stout I think I may buy a keg soon... because that was ridiculous and I had to do it all on my own!

    Do I need a thief?

Could I not just sterilize my 1/2 inch tubing and siphon off enough for a test every time? I just don't want to go buying everything when I'm not sure if I will stick with brewing. I would buy a wine thief after the 2nd or 3rd brew. But is siphoning acceptable?
