Can I siphon into the primary?

Hey all! Lost my funnel. Is it okay to siphon into the glass carboy for primary before pitching? Starting this batch in a few. Thanks everyone!

    Extra sweet, extra espresso stout?

Hi All! I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how to add extra sweetness to a sweet stout. I would think adding extra lactose sugar would do, but am not certain. Next question. I want to give this a really nice espresso kick. When should the coffee be added and how much? Thanks! Ken

How much Dry Malt Extract to use?

I was going to research steeping grains next. I know this will be an ale of some sort. I might aim for something in the IPA area.

How much Dry Malt Extract to use?

Hi all. I'll be making a batch of beer soon that will leave me with the odd pound of liquid pils and liquid wheat extracts. I was going to throw that into an experimental batch (waste not, want not) but figured I should throw in a little more extract. As I'm on a malty kick I thought I'd...

Lovibond Rating (or Plato. Not sure)

I'm wanting to attempt to make a few beer styles that have fallen out of popularity in the past hundred years or so, or which are extinct aside from a recipe or two still being available. One of them calls for 2 pounds of acidulated malt with an L of 2. I think they mean 2L as in Lovibond and...

Carbonating cider with a pressurized seltzer bottle?

I've been brewing beer with exract for a while now and thought it would be fun to try my hand at hard ciders. I've read that making a sweet cider and carbonating it in a bottle is almost impossible and I don't have the gear for kegging nor the space to store it all whilst living in an...

How to get chocolate flavor into my stout?

I'm currently brewing a cherry chocolate milk stout. I plan to add some cherry flavoring prior to bottling and put the lactose in while boiling the wort. My questions are: 1) when should the chocolate go in, 2) what kind to use, & 3) how much to put in? I was under the impression that I...
