    Brewhardware new RIMS tube

I can't wait to get one of these babies! Thanks for the picture update on the site! It was just the taste that I needed to curb my craving until the 15th!

Minnesota Copper Manifold for 10 Gallon Rubbermaid Cooler

I just made my own copper manifold and had enough copper piping and fittings to make a second manifold so I am wondering if anyone would like to purchase the additional one. I would be interested in selling for $20. I soldered a few of the joints not all for ease of cleaning. So it will come...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I am, I'm brewing a smoked ale. Almost 6lbs of Beachwood and Cherrywood smoked malt together for this 5.5 gallon batch. I'm looking for some intense smoke for this beer! I am also upgrading my MLT to 10 gallons finally! I need more space!

    cool bung stuck situation, advice?

Haha this happened to me before although ot that far in but I used a orange peeler to get it out. It is the kind that is a strong plastic and one end has a sort of hook on it. That thing fit through the hole and I could yank it out. But if you can't get it out just spay it with some Starsan and...

New to all-grain. Is Blichmann best?

I would say that Blichmann is good but overpriced. I would stick to a 10 Gallon SS pot, I like the thicker walled ones like the Megapot from Northern Brewer, I would get one with a ball valve at least...

    Long sparging process

An hour is relatively normal if you are fly sparging, but batch sparging should be quicker. Did you add any rice hulls to the recipe? They should help out with this. Also make sure you get the grain bed nice and set when taking the first runnings, I usually take out 4-5 liters before going to...

Going on second ever batch.. and I'm going to try a Tripel

I just tried my triple. it's only been in the bottle for about 3 months. And it wasn't so good. I'm thinking of going to let it sit for probably another 2 or 3 months before I try again. I also agree with the philosophy of go big or go home!

white layer on the bottom of primary after 24 hrs

Did you take an original gravity reading? There can be fermentation without a large krausen. You can judge how your fermentation is going by taking either a hydrometer or refractometer reading in the middle, or whenever to see when you are done fermenting.

white layer on the bottom of primary after 24 hrs

So you are doing an open fermentation? If you are then I have heard that people move it into a carboy after 24 to 48 hours because the yeast eats most of the sugar in this time. If you don't move it over it can get infected because there is not as much co2 on top. Also the trub is fine. I...

    Stuck at 1.035!!!

Yeah I had a high gravity ipa and I had a 2 week primary and 1 week secondary. And the second week in primary was when it dropped to a good SG. Also what temperature are you fermenting at? Also did you aerate the wort before letting it ferment? Remember to correct for the fermented wort!

Using Block ice to chill wort

Honesty I got lucky and got a 50 foot wort chiller for 50 bucks used, and it only takes a few minutes to chill my wort to temperature, compared to almost an hour like you said. I honestly think it is saving me money now, because I no longer need to buy ice. Buying a wort chiller and making my...
