    thermistor issue

Hi All, Haven't been brewing much in quite awhile; started a business, had a baby and bought a boat so have been very busy. But now that it's winter again I've brushed off my old RIMs project and have immediately run into an issue. I bought a different probe, A BCS460 thermistor (really...

    MyPin T4A Probe Issues

Well Eureka, seems the new probe has fixed the issue. Now if I can only get an efficient auto - tune out of this PID

    MyPin T4A Probe Issues

Yeah reflux, that's exactly what is happening. Accurate at room temp and up to a little over 100 f but then wont keep up to the temp change and even goes back down. Refuses to register anything over 130f. Strange stuff. Hope the pt100 fixes the issue. Does anyone have any advice for ta4...

    BG 10 Burner Issues

I called the banjo burner folks and they just told me which to order, some part number that I cant recall.

    Correct SSR for my setup?

Whats a definite purpose contractor? And what are my risks? I currently have it wired as simply (and i guess as dangerously) as I can have it, wall power to PID and SSR and SSR to outlet (gfci) that controls element. What should I add/change?

    BG 10 Burner Issues

Just checking in, orifices fixed them problem and the burners go like stink.

    autotune a mypin ta7

Sort of in the same boat with the TA4. As far as I can tell it's important to set your probe type under settings and then just set your desired temp on the main screen. I'm sure there are more ways to get it running more efficiently but that's what I have set so far. Cheers, Josh

    MyPin T4A Probe Issues

Thanks for the replies, guessing my problem must come from dropping the whole probe right into the mash. Ordered an PT100 probe which should be here soon, hopefully will correct the problem. It has three leads though and the TA4, as far as I can tell, only has two connection ports (7&8?), what...

    MyPin T4A Probe Issues

Hi All, So I finally finished cobbling together my RIMS only to find out that my temperature probe isn't reading correctly. It is the probe that came with the MyPin T4A temperature controller, it says "k" on the tag so I'm assuming it a type k probe but it only has two connection leads, not...

    Correct SSR for my setup?

Alright, so let me try and trace this as simply as possible. Household current -> temp controller -> SSR -> heating element. Am I missing a step here? Should there be "contactors" in the loop somewhere and what do they do? I feel like the concept is so simple but since starting this project im...

    Correct SSR for my setup?

So I'm muddling my way through my first RIMs build (I'm just using a closed RIM's circuit on my mash tun, the rest of the process will be using conventional propane burners) and I'm trying to find the right SSR and heatsink. My element is a camco 4500W 240V and my temp control is a MYPIN TA4...

    MYPIN Temp Controller Parameters

Hi, So everything has come together on the system (I'll post pics) except for setting up my mypin ta4 temp controller for my RIMs. I've looked at the manual but, honestly, am still at a bit of a loss. It is supposed to autotune but where do I set my parameters and what should they be to...

    BG 10 Burner Issues

Well I had the adjustable regulator turned most of the way down to start because i didnt want to sing my eyebrows off. The yellow flame means I have too much fuel to air. I called the people at bayou classic and they informed me that I need specific orfices even for the hp bg10. So im going...

    BG 10 Burner Issues

That picture has my adjustable propane reg barely enguaged, turning it up gives me a giant cone of flame and i was trying to keep my eyebrows when I took the pic. I was under the impression that yellow flame meant it was burning rich, i.e. too much gas too little air. I have the air shutters...

    BG 10 Burner Issues

Two steps forward, three steps back. I've upgraded my burners to the BG 10s and after getting them installed can only seem to get towering yellow flames out of them. They are hp burners and I have an adjustable 0-60psi regulator on my propane tank but adding more pressure just makes the sooty...

    RIMS system temp controller help

Thanks for advice. Any suggestions on temperature controller configuration? Settings that seem to be working well? Finally have all the stainless and installing soon, i'll throw up a picture. Cheers, Josh

    RIMS system temp controller help

The system will just be used to regulate the mash temperature via passing wort through a tube with the heating element. Thanks for getting me started, still need to order the thermowell and a probe that fits it. Any recommendations on what should work well for the TA4? Cheers, Josh

    RIMS system temp controller help

I have a wiring diagram that came with it but my options are not exactly clear. ports 3&4 SSR Out1, 5&6 SSR AL1, 7-8-9-10 RIT, 11&12 SSR AL2. I'm no electrical engineer but it just seems unnecessarily cryptic and I cant find a tutorial anywhere. Guessing OUT1 should be my leads to the element...
