    Motorized grain mill

Haven't used grain since BC (before celiac). Replaced my grain mill and built a new cabinet this weekend. Still plan to enclose the sides and add a door, but it's motorized and functional. Still need to replace my mash tun (cooler) but now I'm ready to buy some grains.

    Using Campden Tablets

I'm going to ferment some fresh pressed Apple cider and want to kill off any wild yeast. Is there any reason I shouldn't add the crushed tablets before the cider has warmed to room temperature? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    One Gallon Mead Batches

I made a 1 gallon batch which turned out excellent (4 lbs honey, 1 sliced orange, 20 raisons, D47 yeast). I made another 1 gallon batch which had very little flavor (3 lbs of honey, EC1118 yeast). Clearly this was less honey and a drier mead, not a favorite of most that have tried it. I'd...

    Back Sweeten Question

Hope this is not a dumb question but I don't understand back sweetening. By that I mean if the mead has fermented to completion, no more hydrometer changes, why doesn't it restart fermenting if I add more sugar?

    Austin Homebrew Deschuttes GF Ale

Anyone tried this kit? Kit needs: 1 lb roasted chestnuts (not included), 6 lb sorghum, 1 lb brown rice syrup, 2oz cascade @60, Windsor ale yeast. Steep chestnuts @ 155F for 25 minutes. Can you get much from a 25 minute steep with chestnuts?

    Harvester Brewing

Not a brewing thread, but thought it might be of interest. I'm on a business trip and found a selection of the Harvester GF beers. They are in 22oz bottles and I picked up one of each, Dark Ale, Pale Ale, Red Ale, and IPA 1&2. I tried the Dark Ale last night and thought it was excellent...

    Quinoa in the boil?

A local brew pub makes a GF beer using sorghum, quinoa, and honey (and no hops). This is a really good beer, light color, slightly sweet. I talked to the brewer and he told be he adds the quinoa to the boil, along with sorghum, honey is at flameout. Anyway, was curious if anyone has tried...

Brown Rice Syrup vs Brown Rice Solids

Any difference in the syrup vs the solids? I have both. Clearly the syrup is brown where the solids are white.

I'm planning an IPA, anyone familiar with falconers flight 7Cs hops? How have you used them? All at 60 min, split throughout the boil? General thoughts on this hop in an IPA.
