    Counterflow wort chiller DIY bust!

I think its all about the length of the system. The more time the chiller has to work the better. I can only imagine that adding the turbulent effect will increase efficiency.

    Rotating Sparge Arm

Gotcha. Well, either way it definitely looks cool while in use. I'm glad I built it. A fun project for diy nerds like me.

    Rotating Sparge Arm

Aside from it looking great, I find that my overall efficiency is better when I take the proper time to sparge using the rotating arm. I think the slow and controlled continuous downward trickle of sparge water helps to wash more of the sugars from the grain. Just having a tube dropped on top...

Please keep in mind that the drawings are messy and not to any kind of scale. I will try to answer questions as best as I can.

    Rotating Sparge Arm

this is a quick and dirty explanation of the rotating sparge arm I built. There are three tubes involved. The overall main shaft (seen in diag C) is the largest tube and is not altered other than cut to the length you want. It is also the largest diameter tube. The second tube is a bearing...

    Rotating Sparge Arm

Sorry the pictures are broken now. I'll see if I can just draw a quick diagram to explain the fitting I built. Maybe dig up a couple of the original photos too.

    Rotating Sparge Arm

Hello everyone, This is a quick rundown of how I put together a rotating sparge arm for my home brewery. This is a bit difficult to explain, but I hope with the pictures added to the description everything will be fairly clear. Cheers, Benjamin .............. The Goal: Here is a pic...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

About 14 years ago I had a beer in France called "Americas Best". It was all star spangly red white and blue and caught my eye because ... well ... Merica! It tasted like rotten tomato juice. It was beyond terrible. Out of pure patriotism I chugged it without complaint. The memory of that vile...

    Keezer Help

I have converted a chest freezer. Three taps. Two soda kegs and one commercial on tap. Gas tank in the keezer. one regulator on the tank. a four way air split. Fourth air line is used as a spare/utility. The problem i am having is that after several weeks of the gas being hooked up I will...

    Log keg dispensing problem

My DIY keezer is working great for all of my soda kegs... But when I bought a keg of one of my favorite winter seasonal brews and hooked it up (1/6 barrel log keg) ... It is foaming like crazy. I get 50/50 foam/beer in each pour. Do I need to change settings in dispensing pressure or...

    Lost pressure over night

Hello folks, just a quick question. I am new to kegging beer and ran into an issue over the weekend. I had everything hooked up and running great for the past week. Everything was holding pressure great. When I unhooked the beer lines to let the system sit for the rest of the week still...

    Keg Carbonation

I meant pressurizing the keg to a set PSI and then unhooking it. I guess I will need to keep the thing hooked up. I just have a new system and didn't want to leave all the valves open all night for fear of a small leak. No need to risk it if I could pressurize a keg an the just unhook it.

    Keg Carbonation

I was under the impression that I need to leave the valves open and the gas on it to achieve "force" carbonation. If I can just pressurize the keg and the unhook it.... My life just got easier.

    Keg Carbonation

I understand the methods in force carbonating a keg, but if I pressurize the thing with CO2 and then close the valves and let it sit... Can I carbonate that way? What pressure would I need to do so? Temperature would obviously be a factor? I am just wondering what my options are. I just started...

    Keezer conversion - project recap

I will take the sensor placement into consideration. Thanks for the tip. I just brought home 3 kegs from my buddies house... All filled and ready to carbonate. I'm flipping the switch to the on position tomorrow.

    Keezer conversion - project recap

I'm going to surface mount the new thermostat into the side of the freezer down by the compressor. Plenty of room down there and all I will have to do is cut a small rectangle with my rotary disk cutting tool.

    Keezer conversion - project recap

I got a thermostat on eBay and wired it inline on an extension cord I had kicking around. Plugged the freezer into it an dropped the thermostats wire/gauge into the chest. To be more accurate: It was 13.69 with 50 cent shipping. Here is a pic of it. The wiring was as easy a could be and...
