If I am going to fit a bottom drain to my keggle, is there any reason I shouldn't have a welder weld it directly, rather than attach a coupler or spud and screw the elbow in?

If I put a 45 degree NPT fitting on the inside of my weldless bulkhead could I then use a straight tube down to the center for pickup, rather than buying a bent stainless tube fitting into a standard coupling? Do I save any money by doing this? Do i lose any flexbility in the future? (ie why...
