It just dawned on me two weeks into fermentation. I can definitely tell that it's under attenuating (no air lock activity, smaller krausen and trub than normal).
Any fixes to help finish fermentation?
I pitched a single packet of Mangrove Jack's M07 on a 1.075 beer. The only instructions on the packet was to sprinkle on the wort, but it instructions on their web site states that you should pitch two packs for beers over 1.050, plus hydrate and stir for 15 minutes.
The beer has only been...
I am almost ready to bottle my second batch of beer. Three weeks in primary and I just pulled a sample to measure the gravity.
Like my first batch, I enjoy tasting the different steps and was rather disappointed in my beer's hop flavor. I brewed a Rogue Dead Guy clone kit. Don't get me...
Just finished up my second batch and actually REMEMBERED to take a gravity ready before pitching the yeast.
However, my mark was a little off of the recipe. It is supposed to be 1.063. My reading was 1.070. My question is what will this do the beer?
Just completed my stir plate project and am using it for my first yeast starter.
How do you let the stir plate run? Until fermentation is over?
Thanks again for all the advice! You guys are great!
First off, thanks for all the instructions and suggestions in the DIY section. I am on my way to completing an immersion chiller and stir plate.
What did you use to clean your DIY immersion chiller prior to first use? Do you just wipe it down and give it a bath in Star San?
Thanks!
I am planning on brewing a couple of projects that require extended aging in a secondary (bourbon barrel and a barleywine).
My question is there any concern about using a better bottle for extended conditioning? Not sure if there is potential for leaching or even ruining my bottle.
This is my first beer and it is Midwest Supply's Hex Nut Brown Ale.
I bottled this three weeks ago and still not getting ANY carbonation. Any advice? What is the optimal temperature for carbonation?
Thanks!
Should I take a chance and open it up for a reading or wait until I rack into my secondary?
I brewed from a kit and am getting a lot of activity from the airlock.
...and I am going to purchase my home brew kit this week! Can't wait to get started! Any suggestions for my first recipe kit?
Cheers everyone from East Tennessee!
