Tre I'm confused... Are we talking about same thing? I was referring to the Omaha people getting together to make the pick-up from you in Lincoln, just like last time.

Similar thing happened to me while in Peru a few months ago. I ordered a Greene King IPA and the bartender gave me a puzzled look, thought for a second, and then said "Oh, you mean an "eepah"?" Shrugged my shoulders and said, "Yeah, give me one of those eepahs I've heard so much about."

I think I understand now. Since your equipment is not capable of handling more grain, you are boiling down your wort to make it more concentrated. Makes sense. Not necessarily more "efficient", but you yield a higher efficiency with the end result.

Usually the distributors of hops will provide a description and purpose of each hop, whether it is bittering, aroma, or dual-purpose. I've never seen a company describe the Cascade variety as bittering, or even dual purpose, always aroma/flavor. I typically use higher AA hops like Columbus for...

Brewing a dreadnaught clone as I type. Throw some melanoidin in there. That provides the unique taste. My recipe calls for 18# 2 row and 1.5# melanoidin Your hop schedule looks great.
