    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

in case anyone is considering doing a small beer in their brau, we gave it a run on the weekend and while it made for a long brew day, the results are pretty pleasing thus far. one 45l batch at 1.060, same grain but with an additonal 2 kgs in the mash (we removed 2 of the spent grain) just to...

go for stainless steel quick disconnects. not sure on the exact size off the top of my head but i have gone for standard disconnect throughout my whole system, which means my pump is interchangeable throughout the whole process, from the brau, to the chiller plate, to the whirlpool, to the...

I can't add to the info on the high grav side of things, but i have brewed a 32/33 litre batch in the 50l, with 8.2kg of grain and it is sufficient water to rinse the bed. i did a 75 min boil and it wound out to about 28l

just to follow up, the plate chiller is a 'Shirron'. does an admirable job, with the right prep. on another matter, i have a couple brews in the fermenters and i have just racked them off from their primary fermenters into a couple secondary carboys. they are from the same brew, different...

the pumps make it a more complicated system than the urn. that said i'm sure someone with the right equip and time and skill could put one together, not sure how much cheaper it would be, especially in terms of man hours buit would be a great project. fair to say it is a fair bit more complex...

i am from australia but bought a 30 plate chiller from Morebeer in the states, not sure of the model to be honest, i can post it when i get home. i have a garden hose which i coil through an old esky (beer cooler thing) in which i make a salt water ice slurry, that drammatically improved things...

i made a big hop bag that i put loops on so it hangs from the bar you use to rest the malt pipe on, just floats freely about and cut right down on any hop particulants in the wort, works a treat. easy to add hops and plenty of space to move about freely, and it all comes out neat as you like...

just completed the brew on a split brew, 40 litres to a basic american golden ale style, put into 2 fermenters one with Cal V yeast, and a second with a Belgian Trappist. Dry hopped the Cal batch with nelson Sauvin, got about 78 brewhouse efficiency. the brau has just made my brewing such a...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

we only went for a OG of 1.052(or 1.053 depending upon whether you take the reading from refractometer or the hydro) but i can see no reason why you couldn't have had a bigger grain bill on it, certainly not due to capacity constraints. not sure if anyone has any idea on why this would not work...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Yep, we were just doing our first run on the Braumeister and wanted to risk a smaller loss in case we stuffed up so went the smaller brew, with the standard 50L malt pipe. worked fine, we were just hydrating the malt at that stage so i just gradually added water with the pumps going until we...

What Sanitisers and Cleaners are used.

a quick spray of ethanol and a blast with the blowtorch and anything is good to go. also makes it pretty easy to keep hands sterilised, and any siphons etc

What Sanitisers and Cleaners are used.

anyone use ethanol? I have a still and when i have a bad batch of beer i distill it to around 88% pure ethanol and use it. or I just ferment a few kilos of sugar and distill it when I am having a lazy night in. the wife loves it too cause aint nuttin this stuff can't clean or kill! got mould...

i'm sure noone is interested but i just thought i would update on my first brew, tasted it last night and holy moly, it is the best beer I have made bar none. many years brewing and this just nailed it. not sure if it was the magnificent german preciison on temps, the more complex mash schedule...

i have a 50l, we did a smaller brew but to ensure sufficient water was in to keep the maltpipe and pumps full we did a 34l brew, which seemed to be about the minimum we could get away with. did a 90 minute boil and worked out to a final volume of 29.5 litres

hi all, long time reader, first time poster. just wanted to say i have my fantabulous braumeister, have completed one brew, a Fat Yak clone, efficiency 84% straight off the bat, a wonderfully relaxed day of brewing. my only complaint is without the mayhem and mistakes typical of a brew day with...
