    The new kegorator

No, but that was the best place to put the tap hole. The tap can be tilted left to clear if need be. Maybe next one I'll take the inside panel off. Cheers

    Black IPA Grain Bill?

I can definitely appreciate a strait hop blast beer with little competition from coffee flavors. It is a preference thing, though I like both styles now. Like I said I was just going off a recipe that I was given. As far as the combo, they may seem unnecessary but all grains have different...

    Black IPA Grain Bill?

It was my first time brewing a BIPA. I was told this was a good recipe So I tried it and it turned out great! I was told it had both so that it had a real opaque black, Alittle roasted flavor and using All the grains have to offer as far getting good alcohol content. They figured and I do as...

    Ferm stopped before FG

Thanks a lot, some great info there. The mash temp ended up between 152 and 156 throughout its duration. Yea, I put it into I brewmaster and it was going for a FG of 1.016. So I was shooting for that. It has moved down to about 1.031 so I'll give it another few days. Just out of curiosity...

    Ferm stopped before FG

Yeast strain was wyeast 1056 from a pale ale. Made a 1.5 qt starter over 72 hrs. Pitching temp was 66 deg, but ferm temp was around 74. Guessing the ferm temp played a part?

    Ferm stopped before FG

Hey guys, so my black IPA is stuck. OG was 1.065, after 2 weeks in primary (ferm had seemed to slow/stop) I transferred it to secondary without taking a reading. I know I should have just left it in primary and should have taken a reding before transfer and dumping the yeast cake. Any way, I...

    Sorry for hijacking your post

Stuck Fermentation? Bad Yeast? Bad technique?

Guess it doesn't matter what you do. There's always someone to say something about it. At any rate. Next time I will take the hydrometer before transferring and not during. I just assumed since it had a real vigorous ferm for two days it was goin to be just fine. No more assuming. Thanks

Stuck Fermentation? Bad Yeast? Bad technique?

Ok yea, I'll give it another couple weeks. And check again. If its not there I'll pitch someone yeast. Thanks

Stuck Fermentation? Bad Yeast? Bad technique?

While I appreciate the info, the condescending tone is unneeded. It's a pretty similar topic, and people get pissed off when you start new threads when there is one that exists already of similar context. And it does taste pretty great. I'm using a hydrometer.

Stuck Fermentation? Bad Yeast? Bad technique?

So new topic here (sort of). Just brewed a black IPA last weekend Used this recipe except my 1056 was from a pale ale. Also my ferm temp for primary was around 72 when it should have been around 66. So here's the problem, put it into secondary and took a gravity reading. It was only down to...
