    Any homebrewers in Alabama ?

Try Airgas on Cochran. Cochran is located in front of the USPO off of Wall-Triana, just south of I-565 in Madison. That's where I get my C-25 welding gas. I'm sure they have CO2 as well. The do exchanges. Good luck!

Brand new autosiphon doesn't work!!!! ARGGGHHHHHH!

I've come to the same conclusion about the check valve. I think the problem is simpler: the one thing that is common to both AS's is a piece of 3/8" tubing I've been using since I started brewing. I believe, but haven't tested it yet, that this is the problem. I probably won't even test...

Brand new autosiphon doesn't work!!!! ARGGGHHHHHH!

Donor bucket is on the bench, receiver bucket is either on a milk crate or on the ground (usually the crate). There' usually a 2' between the bottom of the higher one to the top of the lower one. I'm wondering if I have a hose problem. I don't see the check valve having much to do with...

Brand new autosiphon doesn't work!!!! ARGGGHHHHHH!

It pumps just fine. As soon as you stop pumping, it loses suction and stops flowing. Putting starsan down the main doesn't help because that's not the seal that's leaking. The so-called check valve isn't really a check valve, maybe half a check valve. I've blown it out and I've examined it...

Brand new autosiphon doesn't work!!!! ARGGGHHHHHH!

I bought a brand new autosiphon over the internet (Haven't contacted the company so I'll hold naming them until I hear back from them) and the dang thing doesn't work worth a dang. I checked the so-called check valve in the main bore and it doesn't even pretend to hold a seal. This is the...

    Skeeter Pee

No expert: sounds to me like some of the BS sugar was fermented before all the yeast died.

LHBS doesn't carry drilled stopper for 2L erlenmeyer

Do they carry undrilled stoppers? If so, buy one, freeze it, then drill it yourself. Good luck!

    New twist immersion chiller

I've thought of it, repurposing my Hayden 457 oil cooler - but only as a pre-chiller - the cooler never gets near or touches the wort. IMO, using any automotive car heater anywhere in food service use or application is not very smart. YMMV.

Free 1969 CO2 Tank with Full Pressure SAFE?

When I tested CO2 cylinders back in the 70's, it was normal to get CO2 cylinders from WWI and even before (the coolest ones were the ex-NAZI cylinders, I bet they'd fetch a pretty penny now). Air or scuba cylinders: whole 'nother story. :off: Bottom Line: Use the CO2 as you normally...

    Best Brew Shop Ever

Ideal brew shop? I'd start with having a brew shop to begin with. Right now, north Alabama (Huntsville area) doesn't have a dedicated brew shop although a local hippy/organic food type place does have some supplies. I hear the grain ends up smelling like incense, so it's strictly a side...

WARNING! Possible dumb question of the week: What's the purpose of the tannin in the SP recipe? What does it do? Thanks,
