    Water report shows huge swings in hardness

    Hi, My water report shows a relatively stable PH variation between 7.73 - 8.29 (currently lying at 8.02) but my hardness is showing huge swings between 6.03-18.4 in German Degrees of Hardness. My latest reading was at the low end of that at 6.41°dH. Is this something I need to worry about...

    Title says it all really. Are crystal and dark malts subbed in a linear fashion? Is 1kg 20SRM = 2KG 10SRM? Or is it just with the roasted barley where I have to be extra careful? Is there any guidelines on this (especially for roasted barley)?

    Slurry Cell Count in X Generation?

    Say I harvest slurry from Beer A which was brewed a fresh vial/sachet and say this is Xbn cells/mm. Then I pitch that into Beer B. Then I harvest slurry from Beer B... Does slurry from Beer B,C,D,etc also have the same XBn cells/mm as the slurry from Beer A (all other things being equal)?
