    I think its infected...HELP!!!

I started with champagne yeast, then went to an ale yeast a week later. Sorry I cannot be more specific, I am in chile and the yeasts were not numbered as far as I could tell. The beer smelled and tasted fine, I had about 1.5 pints left over after bottling so I just drank that..it was very...

    I think its infected...HELP!!!

Ok I just bottled the stuff, tried to keep most of that crap out of the bottling bucket, but some may have gotten in. I tasted it and it tastes great. What should I watch out for from here on out? Also I stupidly used 2 different types of yeast for fermenting, champagne and ale yeast (added at...

    I think its infected...HELP!!!

Hey, I left the beer in a secondary fermenter for about a month. Was in primary for 3 weeks. I opened it up to bottle and I see this. Is that what infected beer looks like?

First time going all grain, almost 4 days later and no bubbles in airlock

Before I was only using LME, which may be the reason why I have not noticed a sweetness or a lower ABV (mine are always pretty strong). But that could definitely be a reason for the lack of bubbles (since this batch is my first all grain). Should I add some regular Ale yeast? (Muntons Ale yeast)

Yeah, I have done it a few times with IPAs with no problems.

First time going all grain, almost 4 days later and no bubbles in airlock

My brewing was great with no hydrometer. I had no problems with infection. The end product was delicious and very strong.

First time going all grain, almost 4 days later and no bubbles in airlock

Thanks! Chile is great, I just moved here from North Carolina and while I miss the availability of Malt Extract, I am loving the move to going All Grain (a lot more available here). I just got used to having a bubbling airlock, so I need to look at Krausen? I have not noticed any forming yet, I...

First time going all grain, almost 4 days later and no bubbles in airlock

Right now I am at 19C, which is 66F. I have about 6 liters of free headspace in the fermenter. The fermenter is new so there should not be a bad seal.

First time going all grain, almost 4 days later and no bubbles in airlock

There may not be any refractometer for a few months, any other way?

First time going all grain, almost 4 days later and no bubbles in airlock

Hey all, I just did my first All-grain batch saturday night, I pitched/added the yeast, and so far I have not seen any bubbles in the airlock. I do not have a hydrometer and my refractometer has not shown up yet, so I am not sure if I will be drinking a beer or just hopped up tea. Is...

I want to BIAB, but there are no paint strainer bags in this country :(

I live in Chile now and since Malt Extract is hard to find here, I need to change to all grain. To save space I would love to go with the BIAB style, but upon scouring a ton of hardware stores and talking to contractors and the like I have discovered that paint strainer bags are simply not in...

Need advice on modifying mini-fridge with "freezer" top for kegerator

Wonderful! Thank you! I will take it slow and steady. Thanks for the tip about bending towards the middle of the pipe, I probably would have gone for where it connects to the cooling element. Thanks!!

Need advice on modifying mini-fridge with "freezer" top for kegerator

Do you think it would be relatively easy to bend or move the cooling element to the back of the fridge?

Need advice on modifying mini-fridge with "freezer" top for kegerator

So I am getting a mini-fridge for free (awesome) from a co-worker. The only problem that I see so far is that it evidently has a minifreezer at the top of the fridge. I have not seen this mini-fridge yet, but I will pick it up tomorrow. My question is: 1) Should I even bother using this as a...

Is it ok to top off a fermenter with water for All-grain brewing?

Wonderful! Great news :mug: !! I will hopefully try the 5 gallon batch this weekend and will post to the forums how it went. How would I go about making my wort extra strong? Would I let them mash for longer?

Is it ok to top off a fermenter with water for All-grain brewing?

OK thanks! I bought a 23 liter pot thinking it would be enough for 20 liters (5 gallons) for the AG method. I guess I need a bigger pot....
