    Best way to prep bottles?

If the bottles I get have lefrover dried beer. I oxyclean them in a rub of water for an hour, and rinse. The day of bottling, star san them. After that its easy to maintain clean bottles. Immediately after drinking, rinse with cold water and star san the day of bottling.

To remove the krausen or not to remove the krausen

    Should I re pitch yeast?

What type of yeast did you pitch and what is the temp of your wort now? If it is too cold in the room, that may have stalled activity. Nomal ale ferm temps should fall between 68-72 deg. If that is the case, get an electric brew belt from your lhbs or fermwrap to bring up the temps. Swirl...

Has anyone used a bread maker to re-hydrate dry yeast?

Plus 1 on the stir plate w liquid yeast. I use that 99 percent of the time unless I get very lazy. Definately worth the money.

Has anyone used a bread maker to re-hydrate dry yeast?

I have never tried that and I do the same thing when I use dry yeast and always have slow starts. My last batch I bought some yeast nutrient. I added 1tsp to the last 10 mins of the boil (for a 5 gal batch). Huge difference, it was bubbling within 6 hours. Ill be using this stuff for all my...

    Hop Pellets

It will settle out. I use hop bags so that the hops dont clog up my chiller. If you want to catch some of the junk, try using them next time. For now, dont be concerned, it will settle to the bottom like already mentioned.

Austin Homebrew Pliny the Elder clone

I just pulled my first pint from the keg of the Pliny the Elder clone from the AHS kit (all grain) And WOW it is good!! It is much better than I thought it would be. It has a nice floral aroma, a little piney, citrus. I expected the hops to be overbearing because of the amounts you put in and...

I got a little over 4.5 gallons. I definately lost more than anticpated and there was a ton of trub! I have never tried the real pliny since they dont sell it anywhere in my area. It will be tough to compare it to what it should be like. It smells real goos though!

    Best value Grain Mills

Another vote for the barley crusher. I love it, and it is a solid mill for around 120. Worth every penny.

Do I Need a Grain Mill

I agree with most everyone here. A huge benefit is buying unmilled grain my the sack. It saves a ton of money in the long run instead of buying a few pounds here and there. You can save even more if you get in on group buys where a group of people split 2 pallets of grain. My lhbs is an hour...
