Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

So is kettle size limitations the only reason someone would do PM vs. AG using this method?

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

I'm going to try this soon. I asked this earlier but didn't get a response. For the first attempt at using this method, would you go with a recipe you know well (obviously doing PM instead of extract) or do you think it's easy enough that I could try a more complex recipe? I'm really interested...

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

I did the Vinnie recipe printed in Zymurgy. I did a 5 gallon batch but not the 8 gallon boil due to a small kettle. I get a ton of aroma in the first few weeks but it fades fast. Just like the original, this one should be enjoyed as fresh as possible.

    Pliny the Elder

Do you mean the date is January 2013 then? What you're talking about is 14 months not two. My experience with Pliny is to drink it within a month, and it's substantially better, IMO, within two weeks.

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

Question for those of you that have used this method to make the jump from extract to PM. Would you suggest certain recipes or would I not be getting in over my head doing a bigger recipe. The reason I'm considering doing this is I want to brew an Imperial stout, specifically the Kate the Great...

Sound of CO2 when taking a pull off the keg

I figured it out. When I reattached the faucet to the tower the line inside the tower twisted and that kink caused a tiny leak (hence the hissing) and caused the foaming. I straightened it and it now pours perfectly, no hiss. Thanks to all who offered help. I'll also keep in mind not to use...

Sound of CO2 when taking a pull off the keg

I'm fairly new to the world of Kegerators and I just cleaned my lines for the first time. Having reassembled the lines, faucet, etc. I'm hearing a hissing sound when I draw from the tap. Having read through some of the responses here I wouldn't be concerned except that the beer is really foamy...

Post a pic--let's see your ugly mugs

The wife and me on a U.S./French climbing expedition to Makalu (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makalu). To be clear, we didn't summit, but others on our expedition did.

Kegerator draft tower cooler: is this crazy?

So I bought 10 feet of beer line (I also bought supplies to build a draft tower cooler) but I did some further research before installing the longer beer line. According to this site: http://www.brewersfriend.com/2009/07/18/getting-a-good-pour-kegged-beer-co2-line-length-and-pressure/ The line...

Kegerator draft tower cooler: is this crazy?

Huh, interesting. Where can one buy longer keg lines? Would Home Depot have something like that or does it need to be some sort of special, food grade tubing?

Kegerator draft tower cooler: is this crazy?

Temp is about 38 degrees; PSI is about 10; the beer line (if I understand correctly, I'm new to kegerators) is about 4 feet (what came with my store-bought kegerator). I'm not sure what you mean by "shouldn't be that big a problem in Boulder this time of year." Do you mean it should be cold...

Kegerator draft tower cooler: is this crazy?

Yeah I know. I just thought it was a funny idea. We'll see how effective it is. It certainly isn't anything more than a temporary fix.

Kegerator draft tower cooler: is this crazy?

I've been pouring the first beer into a pitcher since I got the Kegerator and letting the foam subside. After it subsides, usually under five minutes, the beer is noticeably flatter. The party is small, a Monday Night Football "club" of eight couples. Likely two couples won't attend so we're...

Kegerator draft tower cooler: is this crazy?

I just got a Kegerator and plan to build a tower cooler out of an old pc fan. But we're hosting a party for Monday Night Football this week and, with ten week old twins, I won't have time to do that before Monday. So I began to think about temporary solutions. I thought I could shove a cold pack...

Post a pic--let's see your ugly mugs

I believe you're referring to the "other" Henry, but I am a direct descendant of the William Henry that made rifles for the Revolutionary Army (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Henry_(delegate)). I just named a son William Henry and have a family heirloom, a reproduction of the Benjamin...

    Help for a kegerator newbie

Thanks Zach! Another footnote to this saga: the sixtel of Avery IPA I bought to christen the kegerator now tastes like a keg from a college party on Saturday that sat out in the sun half floating on melted ice water until Monday then re-chilled. This despite untapping and keeping refrigerated...

    Help for a kegerator newbie

Update: today I took both regulators and the tank to the local Airgas shop. They were extremely nice and helpful. Long story short, the guy took both apart and confirmed they are both bad regulators. There is a needle inside the main housing that the guy said would normally be made much more...

    Help for a kegerator newbie

Yes, I've tried totally disconnecting the keg and the problem persists. I have also tried closing the screw and the pressure does go up although very slightly. I'm not sure what you are referring to embossed on the back of the regulator. Here's the back:

    Help for a kegerator newbie

Anyone? I'm thinking of bringing the regulator and tank somewhere to be looked at. What sorts if places might do a repair like this?

    Help for a kegerator newbie

The replacement regulator arrived today and I'm having the same issues. With the valve (to the keg line) closed and the pressure screw opened up all the way, it still climbs to over 50 psi. If I open keg line valve it will drop down to 20 psi. That's better of course but still too much and the...
