    Shut down (Michigan Brewing Company)

I hope it's better than the one I picked up BEFORE they closed down. It was terrible. Worse than my homebrew!

    Shut down (Michigan Brewing Company)

I had a taste for their nut brown about...10 years ago when they were in the smaller building accessed through the Mobil parking lot. Hell, I thought they were already out of business, as the old brewery is empty...Hmm...

    If you like/Then you'll like

I'm in K'zoo twice a month, I'll look it up. But You'd have to have shopped at an HEB to understand. It's not just a grocery shopping experience, it's an adventure. There's a corner party store at Dort Highway and Grand Blanc rd in...Grand Blanc you should check out...

    If you like/Then you'll like

HEB offers the "mix and match" 6 pack option and offer a pretty good selection (I seriously miss HEB, as there is NOTHING in my home state that comes close to the combination of quality/price/service). Personally, my quest is for the perfect wheat beer. It's what I like, it's what I want to...

is there a Rehab for Homebrew ?

Bells also have 8.00 cases of empties...They don't have a huge variety, but what they do sell is the lowest prices I've seen on the net.

    house reeks after first brew.

My initial and continuing perception of boiling wort is the smell of pesto. I love pesto, therefore I love the smell of boiling hops and grains...

Poll: Which type of a brewer are you?

I'm frugal, but frugality is heading the fascination stage of involvement in this hobby. I find it absolutely fascinating that I can take a pot, throw some water, grain (DME) and hops in a pot on the stove...boil it...then throw it in a cheap plastic pail...forget about it for a few...

    Orange pieces

Just did a "toss some orange zest in the primary and leave it" beer. Green at bottling time, it tasted of sweet orange, without any pithyness. quite satisfied. Oh, it was dried packaged product from the LHBS.

Epic first-time beer making fail. What happened?

It's like cooking a great meal. If you want to be proud of what you're serving, you gotta control your cooking. You put great care in selecting and preparing your ingredients. I love cooking and want to put a great meal on the table, I rarely leave dinner unattended.

    First brew tomorrow...last minute decision

Not that I am an authority, but yes swamp coolers do the job. My chilliest room stays at 68d (+-). Adding a couple frozen 2 liters twice a day kept the swamp at 58-62d. Using the 5-10d rule of thumb for temperature during fermentation, my goodies stayed at 63-72d at the extremes. I have a...

    tap a draft system

Just surfed the Manufacturers site. They offer replacement/repair parts and explain how to use it several ways, including force carbonation. It's just answered my dilemma on getting into "kegging" without needing a separate refrigeration unit. Winner winner, chicken dinner...

    Heavy alcohol smell

So, in learning to use the "P" word to it's most rigorous extreme, on day 21 I have flat Bass Ale clone. Gravity is at .009, same as it was 2 weeks ago, but it's clear and tastes like a good pale ale, sans bubbles. In doing some sniffing around things in contact with my carboy, a lot of what I...

Noob Concern - should I cool down my primary fermentation?

After not doing anything with my first batch to control temp and the anticipation of what may have screwed up in it, I put together a swamp cooler for my second batch. This is in the darkest, coolest room of the house, stays around 68d. With two frozen 2L soda bottles, my rubbermaid tub stays...

Why AB InBev and the others suck

In response to this and now knowing that Stella, Shock top and Goose Island Brews are owned by AB...don't buy the product. It's a simple solution. Negate their attempt at raising their bottom line by leaving it all in their warehouses...

    Punk Rock and Hardcore

Now, I realize that I'm replying to a 2 year old post, but I agree, but disagree. I thought White light nailed it as a studio album. Big, thick production, well written songs ("I Was Wrong" has been sorta my mantra since the first time I heard it), but certainly lacked what they sound like...
