    Best BJCP contests to enter?

I can see two beers in case you get to BOS but one of our local contests wants three beers. Then they have a night where they drink entries just for yucks. I would consider that a bit of a scam, but maybe that's not typical. Perhaps the problem is partly that judges get paid $0 but really do...

    What are you drinking now?

Maris Otter/US Goldings SMASH with S-04. Bottle conditioned for about 10 days, and oh my it's nice.

    Best BJCP contests to enter?

I'm a world class brewer who wants to get serious about entering amateur BJCP contests for prizes and feedback. Are there any contests that have serious judging with serious prizes and worthwhile score sheet comments? I'm only willing to spend an entry fee and waste even a bottle of my world...

    JonyMac's Basement Construction Thread

Nice high ceilings! RO systems are not that hard, although the company I bought mine from had their connections reversed for the auto shutoff valve, probably still show it that way, and it makes for a horrid chatter when done wrong. But I digressed, they do make a nice product, decent price...

Legal Sources - Regarding Lease Laws or Renters Rights

I already had the survey, and it's actually created a situation where I could proceed on an adverse possession case (the line is way over on my side) but my lawyer advised against it even though the surveyor said I "should" win. So I'm holding off. The fence line has been there for 30 years as...

    My water, Thoughts?

Could you also add phosphoric acid? I mean, it's in coca cola so how harmful could it be to drink? I'm kidding, that stuff is toxic as hell. But flavor wise, seems like lactic acid might give a sour milk effect, citric a lemony sour effect, and phosphoric a good clean chemical effect...

If it's yellow, are you letting it mellow? Are you collecting rain water?

Legal Sources - Regarding Lease Laws or Renters Rights

Interesting. My neighbor stirred up some **** which opened up a can of worms that seemed easy to capture but on second thought perhaps not so much. My lawyer said the same thing you are, and quoted me 10-20k to "fight the good fight" to possess what is pretty much mine already. At least I...

    JonyMac's Basement Construction Thread

How tall are those ceilings? What did you use under the drain, a crushed rock and what size? What type of concrete mix will you pour on top of that? Is that a water softener? Aren't you concerned about adding sodium, if so? OK that's enough questions. Very cool I am living in my remodeled...

True enough. Can you help me with my adverse possession and prescriptive easement situations as well?

    Christmas money opinions

Monster Mill MM2 with the big hopper. What a delight to throw the entire grains in there with room to spare, and hit that sucker with a Rigid drill and down it goes.

    Metal Shavings from Mill Rollers

You should probably be far worried about the metals and other contaminants in your water than a few flakes from the grinder. That and the BPA in plastic mash tuns that leaches out quite well at 150 f. Theoretically, of course, you may have perfect water. I hit a rock using the monster mill...

Legal Sources - Regarding Lease Laws or Renters Rights

He's been there six years, it's too late to leave early! The real problem is that his landlord is probably mafia the way they are extorting money. Be careful when they come over with the pipe wrenches. That is a ridiculous amount of water as has been pointed out. Major leak time, or...

Accidentally pitched at 85 degrees F

You'll be fine OP. That yeast is very neutral and forgiving as to temperature. It is happy at even lower temperatures as well and so clean as to give a lager like flavor while fermenting at 58 f for example. You lowered your temperatures early in the process before it really got going...

How much detail in BJCP 16 E notes?

It's also more hoppy with some Cascade hops along with Mt. Hood and Willamette and Tettnanger from the garden than a typical Belgian dark strong. Probably not IPA strong however. But out of style per se. The tangerine is just the zest and juice from one in a 4 gallon batch. So I wouldn't...

WLP530 - Know it, fear it!

I did one at 1.104 with a 2 liter starter on about 4 gallons. It went off.

How much detail in BJCP 16 E notes?

It's a dark strong Belgian type ale with 20% rye malt, homemade candy sugar with tangerine zest and juice used for bottle conditioning.

How much detail in BJCP 16 E notes?

What level of detail would judges expect for 16E entry notes? Should it be short and sweet, or provide a lot of detail, or somewhere in between?

5 years into this great hobby and I feel like giving up

I would try bottling a batch to eliminate the kegging part of the equation.
